Mission: The Learning Tree is dedicated to providing a learning environment that offers age appropriate educational opportunities allowing each child to be successful. Philosophy: The Learning Tree offers a safe and developmentally appropriate atmosphere where the children have fun, develop appropriate and positive social skills and are encouraged to try and learn new things through developmental curriculum. The developmental curriculum will focus on social and emotional development, social interaction, language development, cognitive development, fine and gross motor skills and gaining independence. These skills will be measured by student outcomes while attending The Learning Tree. Quality early childhood education is important and it is The Learning Tree’s goal to boost learning for each child so they are prepared to be successful in their future schooling. Objectives Social/Emotional Development: The Learning Tree will nurture the sense of self-worth, responsibility for self and others, and appropriate social behavior when interacting with other children Language Development: The Learning Tree will teach the alphabet, numbers and colors. The students will learn how to question and converse using words and expanding their sentences. We will practice following oral directions given. Each student will experience the enjoyment of books both independently and during read aloud. This will assist with the understanding of print, comprehension, the purpose of text, and the writing of letters and words. Cognitive Development: The Learning Tree will foster the growth of problem solving, logical thinking and reasoning, representation and symbolic thinking. This will be done through classifying, matching, arranging, make believe, sequencing, one-to-one correspondence, using numbers and counting, and cause and effect. Physical Development: The Learning Tree will work on developing both Gross Motor and Fine Motor skills through a variety of classroom activities and indoor/outdoor activities.
