Reiki, (pronounced Ray-kee) is a vibrational or subtle energy therapy which was originally developed in the early 20th century by Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese philosopher. The words ‘Re’ and ‘ki’ together mean ‘Universal Life Energy’, the subtle vital energy which flows in and around all living things. (Many people these days are more familiar with the Chinese word ‘Chi’ which means the same thing.) A number of different streams of Reiki have evolved over the years. Rei - Spiritual Wisdom The word Rei is felt as the 'wisdom and knowledge of the universe' or 'atmosphere of the Divine.' It refers to the Higher Intelligence that guides the Universe which is all knowing and therefore understands the underlying cause of all problems and difficulties and how to heal them. Ki - the Life Force Ki (which some people call chi or prana) is the vital life force energy that flows through all living things. It surrounds and animates life and is the primary source of our thoughts, emotions and spiritual existence.
