Description
The mission of The Next STEPP Center is to provide life affirming solutions and physical, emotional & spiritual support to women, men & families facing unplanned pregnancy or other pregnancy or parenting related challenges. Our History:Originally established in 1993 as the St. Petersburg Pregnancy by the Suncoast Baptist Association and Southside Tabernacle Baptist Church, we began doing business as The Next STEPP Center in 2009. Since our opening Churches of various denominations have embraced this ministry and have taken vital roles in supporting its mission. Only a few pregnancy centers around the country have opened in urban areas, and of them, very few have been able to sustain operation. However, through prayer and support from churches and individuals, we have been able to serve our community for the last sixteen years. In 2008, we began serving the Gulfport/Childs Park areas by opening a satelite location in Gulfport, FL. This location is near three schools where young women can conveniently receive confidential services including pregnancy tests, peer counseling and abstinence education. Our Purpose:We aim to empower women to make life and lifestyle choices that promote their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. We offer life affirming solutions to unplanned pregnancy; prevention services through sexual integrity programs; and intervention services through material provisions, education and support groups. We desire to offer the hope of the good newsl and love of Jesus Christ with all that come through our doors. Our Services:The Next STEPP Center provides free pregnancy tests, peer counseling, pregnancy care, parenting, Bible study and life skills education, and referral services to about 1,500 families annually. Some of the practical assistance we provide is maternity and infant clothing, diapers, cribs, food and formula, etc., which helps reduce the stress associated with crisis pregnancy or parenting situations.

The Next STEPP Center is an integral resource for women who are experiencing challenging pregnancy situations and are at a crossroad in deciding whether or not to choose life for their unborn child. We are a unique pregnancy center serving primarily African American clients in economically disadvantaged South St Petersburg, Florida. We are seriously concerned that the lives of about half of all African American babies ends in abortion. We offer women and families "Life, Help, & Hope"; Life by counseling women on alternatives to abortion, Help through education and providing material resources, and Hope as we present the gospel of Jesus Christ to every client.
