Description

Dinner is available from Tuesday to Saturday from 5.30pm - 9.15pm. Lunch is available Tuesday - Saturday from 12pm - 2.30pm. On Sundays the kitchen is open throughout the day from 12pm - 7.30pm The Old Bookbinders Ale House is a much loved gem of Jericho with many happy memories for many local residents. Whilst you have many pubs to choose from in Jericho none quite have the feel and atmosphere of The Bookies is blessed with. A short 15 minute walk from Gloucester Green Bus Station, The Bookies is tucked away in the back end of Jericho. Walking down to the end of Cranham Street you'll find us on the left hand side, right next to the canal. Unfortunately parking in Jericho is notoriously bad, so it may be worth leaving the car on Walton Street in one of the on street pay bays.

How To Get to The Old Bookbinders Ale House

We are just a short 15 minute walk away from Gloucester Green Bus Station. The most direct route is to walk along Walton Street until you get to Cranham Street.; then walk straight down to the bottom (past The Rickety Press on your right and The Harcourt Arms on your left) and you’ll see us just on the left. If it’s a nice day you can walk along the canal from Hythe Bridge Street, it takes about 10 minutes and when the sun is shining it’s a lovely stroll. The ground can be a little rough under-foot so we do not advise this if you are slightly unsteady on your feet. The towpath is also unlit so it’s probably best to not walk down it at night unless you know your route. We are very lucky to have a bus stop in front of the pub which means you can just jump on the bus 17 from Oxford City to save yourself some walking. You can get on from Stop B1 on George Street. Ask to alight on Canal Street and the driver should let you know when to get off. There is very little parking near us in Jericho. Although there are a few 2 hour visitor spots around the place (we are lucky enough to have two just outside the pub) they tend to get snapped up very quickly. There are lots of pay and display parking bays on Great Clarendon Street and also on Walton Street itself which are rather inexpensive and just a five minute walk from the pub itself.
