Lost your National Insurance Number? You might find it on official paperwork like your P60 or payslip. If you still can't find your number, you can ask HMRC to confirm it by: completing and returning form CA5403 or contacting the National Insurance Registrations Helpline on telephone 0300 200 3502.
When you take on a new employee, you must obtain specific information and report it to HMRC via a Full Payment Submission (FPS) the first time you pay them. The information required includes, full name, national insurance number, total pay and tax paid to date for the current tax year and student loan deduction status (if applicable).
