To promote the science and practice of the medical specialties of clinical radiology (diagnostic and interventional) and radiation oncology. The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) is a not-for-profit association of members who deliver skills, knowledge, insight, time and commitments to promote the science and practice of the medical specialties of clinical radiology (diagnostic and interventional) and radiation oncology in Australia and New Zealand. The College is led by clinicians who are democratically elected by the membership. The ultimate oversight and responsibility for the College is vested in the RANZCR Board of Directors. The work of the College is scrutinised and externally accredited against industry standard by the Australian Medical Council and the Medical Council of New Zealand.

Description

The setting up of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Radiology early in 1935 led to the formation of the College of Radiologists in 1949. Since then, the College has had three further name changes until finally becoming The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists in 1998. The mission of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists is to drive the appropriate, proper and safe use of radiological and radiation oncological medical services for optimum health outcomes by leading, training and sustaining our professionals. Faculty of Clinical Radiology The Faculty of Clinical Radiology, RANZCR, is the peak bi-national body for setting, promoting and continuously improving the standards of training and practice in diagnostic and interventional radiology for the betterment of the people of Australia and New Zealand. Faculty of Radiation Oncology The College’s Faculty of Radiation Oncology is the peak body advancing patient care and the specialty of radiation oncology in Australia and New Zealand. It sets quality standards, produces high-quality radiation oncology specialists and drives research, innovation and collaboration in the treatment of cancer. The Faculty vision is to have an innovative, world class radiation oncology specialty for Australia and New Zealand focused on patient needs and quality.
