This Monday night (20th June) at 8.00pm "Australian Story" on ABCTV will feature a story on the murder of a homeless man in Melbourne called "Mouse" Perry and his sister Michelle's search for an understanding of his life choices. A major part of the program will be interviews with Majors Brendan and Sandra Nottle and their untiring work in Melbourne City over many years. Brendan is the conduit to the people of the street for Michelle. He takes her to the place where he lived and died and she meets the members of Melbourne's homeless community and the people who care for them. They first met "Mouse" as a young man at the SA youth service at Tranmere Street almost 20 years ago. At the time their daughter Ash was a baby and Mouse took a shining to her. Decades later Ash Nottle was his welfare support worker at SA Melbourne 614. An extraordinary story which indicates the on-going heart commitment of the entire Nottle family. I'm proud to have been involved in media managing this project at the SA end as I was on the originating team of Australian Story 20 years ago. Circles within circles! Our Cafe Elizabeth was blessed by the presence of the Holy Spirit tonight at our prayer gathering as we prayed for our church family, its ministry, and other things that God had placed on our hearts. Why not join us on Thursday nights from 7 to 8pm as we learn to exercise the power of prayer? A thought to share from tonight - We can break the bondage of harmful Family DNA when we bring it to the light and seek God’s forgiveness for both our ancestors sins and ours. God assured his people…“If they confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors, their treacherous betrayal, the defiance that set off my defiance that sent them off into enemy lands; if by some chance they soften their hard hearts and make amends for their sin, I’ll remember my covenant with Jacob…” Lev. 26:40-42 (MSG) . . . . "If prayer is so important, why is it so many believers are continually halted in their prayer life? Well, it’s no accident. It is the result of satanic scheming plus our own natural tendencies. Satan doesn’t mind if we witness near as much as he minds if we pray because he knows it is far more important to talk to God about people, than to talk to people about God. It’s when we start talking to God about people that our witnessing becomes most effective. The same applies to studying the Word, teaching it to others, or Christian activity. If Satan can keep believers off their knees, and keep us running up and down the various mountains of our lives, very little of the Word will really take hold. Instead spiritual pride will develop and the activity will become just busy activity, but ineffective. Prayer is a very important dimension in the life of every believer. May the Lord enable us to keep the dimension of the power of prayer in focus." H. G. Hendricks, Elijah, Confrontation, Conflict & Crisis, Moody Press, Chicago, 1972

We are so blessed in Launceston to have this amazing leader. The last few days have been challenging to say the least, and yet Anita Reeve has gone above and beyond the call of duty. She has a huge responsibility managing the social programs, but this week has had so much extra pressure put on her. Not only has she had to deal with normal work requirements, but today continuing to liaise with the evacuation centres, delivering food, meeting those effected by the floods and hearing their stories and providing relief. We thankyou Anita for your tireless work and care

Jeffrey and the Worship Band lead us in singing as people come to the front to take a copy of the Articles of War to reaffirm their promises today. "Holy Spirit rain down rain down O Comforter and Friend How we need Your touch again Holy Spirit rain down rain down Let Your power fall let Your voice be heard Come and change our hearts as we stand on Your Word Holy Spirit rain down No eye has seen no ear has heard No mind can know what God has in store So open up heaven open it wide Over Your church and over our lives Let Your power fall let Your voice be heard Come and change our hearts as we stand on Your Word Holy Spirit rain down"
