We would ask that you please take the time to read this section, as it answers our most commonly asked questions Welcome to The Secret Cottage, one of NI’s best kept secrets until NOW….. Nestled in the Castlereagh Hills we are less than a 15 minute (approx. 6.5 miles) drive to the City Centre…. We don’t give exact details until you have completed your booking as to exactly where we are…Why?? Because it’s exactly that “The Secret Cottage” lol, However our pics & reviews should leave you in no 2 minds as to how fantastic it really is. With the addition of “The Stables” the Secret Cottage can now accommodate, up to 16 guests between the 2 buildings. We book up fast & we book up far in advance….Your stay “is not reserved” until your deposit is paid in full & generally this means, that if you say you are going to book today & then pay your deposit a week later, you’re required date is often gone. Sounds obvious but you would be amazed at the number of guests who fail to understand a booking is not a booking until a deposit is paid. We would advise, that if you are uncertain of numbers, please book for the minimum number of guests, as deposits are non refundable & dates are non changeable. Additional guests can be added up to 72 hours in advance of the date of arrival. As of December 1st 2016 all new bookings will have accommodation allocated on arrival. So dependant on the size of your party, your accommodation may be in the cottage or stables. Please advise us of any mobility issues at time of booking. As the stables accommodation is in “loft” up a steep flight of stairs. For larger parties or guests with mobility issues, we may be able to offer studio accommodation on the ground floor. (please note there may be an extra charge & earlier check out for this area, as it forms part of the overall Day Spa) What can you expect… Complete privacy apart from maybe the odd cow. (however please note we are in the process of converting our stables & this occasionally means builders on site. However we do our utmost to ensure the majority of works are carried out between, check out & check in time, where humanly possible) The Cottage has been sympathetically restored & offers 2 bedrooms, one with a king bed, one with 2 singles, we can accommodate a further 2 guests, on request (with an inflatable bed in the living room). The cottage has an upstairs shower room with toilet & the stairs are not that steep with a rest point half way up. There is a large living room with patio doors that open up on to the court yard & catch’s the sun for most of the day. The is also a TV with the majority of main channel’s including kids & music. Plus of course free wi-fi. Please bear in mind we are in the country side & occasionally the electric/wi-fi can be intermittent, like anywhere. The spacious Kitchen/diner comes equipped with double over/microwave, gas hop, & small fridge freezer, plus a washing machine. Also there is a dining table for guests. Plus a private 6 – 8 guest hot tub, which is for the exclusive use of cottage guests. The Stables has 2 double bedrooms, both en-suite. We can however ever accommodate an additional 2 guests on a double day bed & a further 2 guests on a sofa bed in the living area. In addition there is also a small studio apartment which may available to larger parties or those with guests with impaired mobility, (please note the studio is subject to availability & may be subject to early check out as it forms part of our day spa) There may be additional charges for use of the studio & whilst it is disabled friendly, it is not adapted for full disabled/wheel chair use. In addition, there is an airy open plan living/dining area, with galley kitchen & dining area. Please note both bathrooms form part of the en-suite & that there is no separate bathroom. Like the Cottage, the stables have been sympathetically, restored & maintains much of the character of the original building & the loft area is light & airy. We provide fluffy robe’s, ample towels, hair dryer & of course bed linen. With cot’s, high chairs & irons available up on request. The outside area is safe & secure for children of all ages. Please note we do accept pets. So please do not turn up with a pet no matter how small. The Cottage hot tub comfortably seats up to 6 guests (7/8 at a push) & is very private, with a hot tub also being added to the Stables in January 2018. (The hot tub is a machine & as such from time to time, may break down, just like us. On the very rare occasion that this may happen, we will give you as much notice as possible & of course a full refund on the hot tub) (NB refund on hot tub only) The hot tub is suitable to enjoy all year round & sits a constant 38-40 degrees….So even in the snow you can lie back & enjoy. We ask that you do not smoke or bring glass & in particular food into the hot tub area. We provide a variety of plastic glasses suitable for cocktails, beers, wines & of course prosecco & champagne. In addition, you are not permitted to use the hot tub, if you are wearing fake tan or have cuts or skin conditions. We would recommend & indeed ask that all guests take a shower, prior to entering & upon leaving the hot tub. Please note it is not advisable to use the hot tub during pregnancy & would suggest that you seek your doctor’s advice. Also, children under the age of 16 are strictly not permitted in the hot-tub. It is advised that you use the hot tub for a maximum of 45 minutes at any one time & allow at least an hour before returning to the hot tub. You will be shown that the hot tub is perfectly clean on arrival & both the hot tub & surrounding area, are subject to inspection prior to check out. Any damage, litter or contamination of the water, (no matter how small) will result in an additional £250 service charge being added to your final bill. If the following guest/guests are unable to use the hot tub, as a result of your lack of consideration, the £250 plus the full cost of their visit will be added to you bill. This is NON NEGOTIBLE & the lead guest (ie the person who made the booking) is fully accountable for any & all final settlements. We want you to enjoy the benefits & privacy of the hot-tub & thank you in advance for your co-operation. Our Salon is on site & we can cater for most beauty treatments & requests, our specialties are massage & make-up application, including spray tan. We only use the very best products available & can tailor a package to suit your particular needs. Treatments are available to both guests & non guests, indeed many of our clients first experience of Beauty at the Secret Cottage comes after a stay in the cottage. All deposits are non-refundable & once a date & package is booked, the date cannot be changed or a package changed unless upgrading. Total number of guests, can be changed up to one month in advance, however, if the total number of guests is reduced their deposit if non-refundable. After this date full payment is required on arrival for all guests booked, plus any packages they may have booked. The guest making the booking is accountable for full payment, irrespective of wither they choose to complete the booking or not & irrespective of circumstance. This is non negotiable & any guests failing to comply will have their booking cancelled, with no refunds issued. Additional guests are not permitted with out prior notification & any additional guests diecovered in the premise or hot tub, are subject to a min additional charge of £100 per guest. Apologies if this seems obvious or indeed harsh, however we occasionally have challenging guests & would ask every one to take the time to read & acknowledge our terms & conditions. We are a small start up business & not a large hotel or spa group, with millions in the bank; we do our utmost to give individual service to each & every guest Our therapists, cleaners & myself will do all with in our powers to give you a stay to enjoy & remember. It is our hope that every guest will become an ambassador for The Secret Cottage & return with partners, friends & family.
