Self defense is not a sport - it's about surviving violence. Violence sucks: Being a victim of violence really sucks... If you want to be prepared to avoid and/or survive a violent assault, I can help you. If you want to beat up your brother-in-law, or get some trophies, I won't help you. Before I proceed, let me be clear about something: I despise bullies and mean people in general. My goal is not to make people agressive - quite the opposite - I want to empower regular people, like you, to gain both confidence, and courage - Fearful people can overreact in stressful situations - But having a sense of calm assurance and confidence will make you less aggressive, not more... Still interested? Read on... This is not a karate school - I teach "combatives" - Real world, proven, self defense strategies and tactics: There are no uniforms, board breaking, pointless forms/katas, belts, or trophies. Our motto is, "You don't need a black belt." Simply stated, it is neither necessary or useful to train for years to learn how to defend yourself. My instruction is done in short, intensive sessions, from one day seminars, to skill specific lesson blocks of classes (example: Two (3) hour classes on Escape and Evasion). We teach a system, not a style: A traditional martial art "style" trains a person to fit a self defense situation to their style - this is dangerous and ridiculous - A practitioner must memorize and practice literally dozens, even hundreds, of choreographed responses to every different scenario... On the other hand, the Self Defense Training System (SDTS) provides a person with a "tool box" of core skills that adapt to any situation. Styles require years of training before they have much, if any, practical application - The SDTS provides a person with practical self defense applications from day one: We put the Practical in Tactical... You have a right and a responsibility to defend yourself - whether against assault, domestic violence, bullies, or the Zombie Apocalypse, it's up to you. If the SHTF no one is going to rescue you - don't be a sheep - be a sheepdog - you must protect yourself, and your family. Can you...? Personally, I am a peace loving person, as are most of the people I know. I sincerely respect Ghandi, MLK, and all of the others who triumphed over tyranny with non-violent protest. But folks, that simply doesn't work against a crackhead, gang banger, or other violent criminal types - seriously. Bottom line: Self defense is about skills - come get you some!
