City Centre Management works closely with local traders and other organisations to: improve shopping facilities promote development of city centre retailing attract businesses and visitors promote a safe, crime free shopping and leisure environment DD One The City Centre Manager is the executive member of DD One, a public private sector partnership which works to develop the economic potential of Dundee City Centre. The group’s achievements include: securing a CCTV Security System by raising £50,000 and thereafter successfully lobbying the public sector establishing Radio Link in city centre businesses to help clamp down on persistent shoplifting in Dundee disseminating information via the DD One Newsletter 'News Centre' advertising on TV, local radio and in local press – innovative and high quality campaigns illustrating the dramatic changes in the retail product organising on-street entertainment to entertain visitors and shoppers, to lengthen the duration of stay and increase the likelihood of frequent repeat visits promoting regular features in the general and specialist press about the scale of investment and investment opportunities employing City Centre Ambassadors to meet and greet visitors, and help liaise with City Centre businesses co-ordinating opening hours, including 7-day trading producing a new 'Eat, Drink, Shop' guide detailing the wide range of eating, drinking,retail in Dundee developing a targeted approach to potential investors introducing a quality Christmas Craft and Produce Market in City Square introducing International and Themed Markets in the City Centre City Centre Ambassadors Dundee City Centre has a team of Ambassadors who patrol the area on a daily basis welcoming visitors and tourists. The Ambassadors also play a key role in liaising with buskers and Big Issue sellers and ensure that street beggars are signposted to the right help resources. They also monitor graffiti and other environmental hazards and factors in the City Centre making sure that they are swiftly dealt with. City Centre Markets The City Centre Management Team organises a series of regular and seasonal markets including the popular Farmers' Markets, International and Themed Markets. Farmers' Markets take place on the third Saturday of every month. Dundee Coordinated Anti-Crime Network (DUNCAN) DUNCAN brings together city centre traders and the public sector to reduce crime and fear of crime in the city centre. S.T.A.R Awards The S.T.A.R Awards are a partnership between DUNCAN and Police Scotland Tayside Division that aims to promote safety in the evening economy through tackling alcohol related crime.
