Character-filled country pub with a history intimately linked to nearby Hoghton Tower.
The Sirloin Inn is a centuries-old coaching inn situated just a minute’s walk from the medieval castle at Hoghton Tower. It was here, legend has it, that King James I knighted a loin of beef he had enjoyed and in remembrance of the event a pub within the parish was renamed the Sirloin Inn. The modern-day pub with its low ceilings, roaring log fires and original floors retains bags of character and has a 100-cover restaurant on the first floor along with a private room which can seat up to 30 people. Menus offer a traditional selection of pub classics with a modern twist with everything made on the premises from scratch. They also farm their own herd of Saddleback pigs just a few miles away. There is also a separate bar menu of light bites, nibbles and tapas-style dishes. Food is served at lunch and dinner every day and right through from 12 noon onwards at weekends. The Sirloin is a Cask Marque Accredited free house with a great choice of cask ales and five hand pulls that change daily.
