WHY CHOOSE? Unlike many places you can go for a massage, at The Therapy Rooms, a therapeutic massage treatment involves an in depth consultation and spinal assessment. You’ll be asked to talk about your lifestyle and your therapist will be able to make practical constructive suggestions as to how you can improve your health. For most people, their health and the reason they need a massage, isn’t just the result of one simple event, but many lifestyle choices. At The Therapy Rooms we can help in, not only dealing with the symptoms of the problem but also helping you to find out the underlying causes.

Whilst it seems obvious to not exercise through pain, I often meet people who do exactly that. Pain is your body's way to tell you that something is damaged. Best practice would be to stop the activity, rest up and ice the painful area and only go back to it when its completely healed. Working out how you got injured is also helpful as it may help you avoid doing the same injury again.

Research has found that participants, who were undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer, who undertook higher levels of aerobic exercise or who combined aerobic exercise with strength training managed declines in physical functioning and worsening symptoms better than other groups in the research. http://jnci.oxfordjournals.org/content/105/23/1821.abstract?sid=12236c6e-5440-41ce-aa0d-ac1bfc21b185

It's difficult to motivate yourself to do any exercise when your joints are sore and stiff. But there is loads of evidence that, despite the initial discomfort, gentle exercise will ease and free up those joints. Walking, cycling or swimming are all helpful. Having just started a different workout at the gym yesterday, it's got me thinking about what's a normal level of soreness after a new workout. It's obviously not good if you experience pain that makes you wince, and you should never continue through an exercise if you’re starting to feel pain. If you have pain that’s not going away after a few days, it could be a sign that you’re not doing the exercise right or you pushed too hard. Try resting the injured area for a few days and then go back to that activity at a lower level and work your way up. Happy exercising!

One of the most important reason behind practicing good posture is it facilitates proper breathing. Air flows better throughout your body, to your organs and your brain when you’re sitting up properly, as opposed to when you are slouching. So give yourself more energy by not slouching. Your muscles have to work harder when you slouch, to hold you up, which leads to feeling more fatigued.
