Our first practice area is criminal defense, where we have proven to be a tough ally for clients facing criminal charges in Collin, Denton, Grayson, Rockwall, and Dallas County. We defend all misdemeanor cases with the exception of minor traffic infractions as well a very serious felony cases such as robbery, burglary, forgery, theft, credit card abuse, and possession of controlled substances (including marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine). Mr. Van Dyke is certified by the Texas Department of Public Safety as a license to carry instructor, and for that reason, we also have many clients seeking representation for charges such as aggravated assault, deadly conduct, and disorderly conduct. We have succeeded in winning dismissals or acquittals for a variety of clients. We also assist with early release from probation, applications for non-disclosure, expunctions, driver's license restoration, and judicial clemency. Our goal is to hold the state to its burden of proof, ensure that the constitutional rights of our clients are protected, and help our clients get "a reasonable doubt at a reasonable rate." Our second area of practice is for people who are looking to buy a home. One of the most common issues the average consumer encounters when buying a home are those relating to his credit. Despite tough laws regulating consumer debt collection and credit reporting, the sad truth is that most people have inaccurate negative information affecting their score. If there is accurate negative information from old and unpaid debts, we routinely assist clients in settling that debt and defending themselves against debt collection litigation. We want all of our clients to qualify for a great home at the best possible interest rate. When it's time to buy, we provide closing services as well. We truly strive to be with our client from the beginning until the end of a process during which they will be making one of the most important investments of their lives. Finally, we assist the small to medium-sized business owner in the collection of commercial debts. The services we offer are far superior to those of a collection agency. A collection agency charges contingency rates of 40 - 50% per account. The dirty secret is that, because almost everyone in the collection industry is paid on commission. The collector and the salesperson are only interested in getting their commission and then convincing you to place more accounts. Our approach is different.
