A community center located in Burlington, Vermont open M-F 12-7 to all adults.
The Wellness Co-op is a community center for adults located in downtown Burlington. We offer an array of fun, educational, relaxing and supportive community-based activities. The Wellness Co-op is a place where meaningful connections can happen. Many drop-in for the first time to use our free Wi-fi, community computers or to check out an item from our lending library. Our organization seeks to support individuals experiencing challenges with their mental or emotional health in their lives toward living healthy, supported lives. We focus on developing strong and healthy connections with people as a way to provide support. Through the mutuality of peer support, community members, staff and volunteers feel a sense of calm and understanding that everyone has distinct yet similar and connected life experiences. We are never fully alone in life and that idea along with exchange intentional listening becomes the basis for supportive relationships. We have volunteer and internship opportunities. Our supportive employment program is a resource many in our community find invaluable. We believe that all individuals are deserving of employment that fulfill their needs and wants. Some support provided: • resume and cover letter building, mock interviewing and other job readiness skills. • applying for various jobs online or at the specific job sites • sharing knowledge about work incentive programs • facilitating opportunities toward meeting educational goals • connecting individuals to other resources such as VocRehab and Department of Labor If desired, ongoing support continues after being hired. From Stitch and Bitch to our Peer Support Circle to our weekly Public Jam, there is something for everyone. We host free community dinner on Tuesday nights. With intention to create a space comfortable for a diversity of people, we do not use harsh chemicals and are a fragrance minimized environment. We hope to expand our hours in the future, so please contact us for the most up-to-date information on our schedule and activities. Drop on by and meet the turtles!
