The breath becomes an important component because the teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This style allows for a lot of variety, but will almost certainly include sun salutations. Expect movement, not just stretching, strength and diversity. Restorative Yoga ~ Restorative Yoga is designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held tensions from the body and mind. This practice is a form of yoga that focuses on physical and mental relaxation through poses aided by props. The props are used to support the body so that you can hold poses for longer, allowing you to open your body through passive stretching. Somatic Yoga - move without pain ~ If you've "tried everything" for your muscle pain and have only experienced short term relief, this series will teach you how to regain muscle function and get rid of pain...for the long term. Learn how muscles become habitually tight and what to do about it. Learn how your movement habits and reflexive responses to stress contribute to conditions such as low back pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, joint pain, and tension headaches. Learn easy, safe and profoundly effective techniques unique to Somatic Yoga that result in renewed muscle control and awareness. A great way to kick off a more gentle practice. Perfect for all levels. Meditation & Chakra Clearing ~ This class is a combination of meditation practice and Chokra clearing. We will guide you through Mindfulness of Breathing, Cultivation of Loving Kindness (Metta Bhavana), Body awareness, Gentle postures, ways to work with distractions, and other topics arising from these experiences. The last portion of the class is for chokra clearing. The point of clearing the chakras is to keep energy flow through them smooth and unobstructed. When you begin working with the chakras you will begin to a healthier and smoother energy flow. One class can lend to feeling an entirely different mind-altering experience that can seemingly adjusted the flow of life that surrounds you. All classes at The YOGA House are by donation. As a yoga student and teacher, I was tired of seeing so many studios charge exorbitantly high prices for yoga. The purpose of this mission was to build a studio that would be available to everyone, a studio for the community. The YOGA House opened its doors 5 years ago and I am happy to announce that we now have a flourishing studio that now hosts over 12 classes per week with 10 excellent teachers. Every class at the studio is hosted on a donation-basis. In other words, there are no set fees. Practicing at a donation based studio means that one pays based on their personal financial means. This is important because we at the YOGA House want to see you practice often and we also want to be able to afford to teach often. A donation is an act of giving however the suggested donation for class is $8. This is simply a suggestion. So if you can put $8 in the donation bowl, please do so. If you are not in a position to do so, please contribute what you can. The $8 is not meant to be a bottom or top limit. If you are in a position to donate more, it would be greatly appreciated. Most importantly, everyone is welcome! All of the teachers at the YOGA House come from a truly loving and authentic yogic background. We collectively believe that our yogic efforts help to spread calm. We look forward to continued growth of our Sanga as we enjoy the peace we impart on the yogis that share the mat with us! We look forward to seeing you on the mat! Our Mission Statement: The YOGA House strives to make the well-guided practice of yoga available to everyone by offering classes on a donation-basis, thereby promoting an environment of love, trust, generosity of spirit and dedication to the yogic philosophy.
