Description

Tongwynlais Music Academy was launched in Autumn 2016, providing outstanding instrumental tuition and ensemble opportunities. Based at purpose-built facilities in Llandaff North, home of the Tongwynlais Temperance Band, the Music Academy provides specialist instrumental tutors in piano, brass, drum kit, tuned percussion, composition and theory, with lessons arranged on a one-to-one or shared basis. In addition, there is the opportunity to join the band's brand new youth ensemble with a weekly rehearsal and regular public performances. Tongwynlais Temperance Band boasts some of Wales' finest musicians who are enthused to pass on their skills, passion and knowledge to the next generation. For five years in succession, Tongwynlais Temperance Band has ranked as one of the UK's top-20 brass bands, each year successfully qualifying for the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall. In 2014, the band reached the final of acclaimed Band Cymru competition on S4C and, for the last eight years, gained a podium-place finish at the Welsh Open Entertainment Contest.
