Shop closed for a couple of days. V8 Supercars in T'ville for me. Back Tuesday. Thanks to all.
897 likes - wow getting up there. would love to see this little Aussie Company hit 1000 likes. thanks to all those that have got me this far.
Strong results from old faithful. 255@ the tyres and a mountain of torque. Not bad for a cylinder head that was done 8 years ago and only flows 198cfm @ .550" lift. Bit down on the old big motor but still very pleasing and should be enough to toast a few sets. AussieSpeed Performance Products EAST/WEST carby kit is a great thing. Tidied up the EGTs nicely and the engine wanted more metho on the secondaries - another good sign. Bring on Saturday night. Hopefully the 'Tonys Metal and Speed' promo ute can bring home the goods in the 6 cylinder class.
This Saturday is the first burnout comp of the year. The Scotty Joseph Memorial skid. I have been flat out on the burnout ute. The carby is now moved east/west instead of north/south, thanks to the help of the AussieSpeed Performance Products east/west adapter. Was hoping to get the ute to the dyno on Monday arvo but unfortunately I have been having a few issues with the QFT meth carb. Eventually sorted it at 9.30pm tonight. Turns out the nitrile floats have gone porous and once they have been exposed to meth for awhile they slowly sink and alter the float level. This causes fuel pull over at idle and erratic running. You type it out on the computer in 30 seconds but man I can tell you that this absorbed a stupid amount of time to diagnose. Not to mention a bucket load of methanol and a couple of oil changes to get rid of the tainted oil. Never mind - should be able to hit the dyno on Thursday of Friday arvo to see if we are on top of the uneven plug burn. I'm thinking the east west mod will do it.
Last weekend was a big one for a couple of customer engines. Cassidy took out the 'King of the Skids' female division at Charters Towers. Zena the mighty v6 sounded well and truly on song and beat several LS V8 powered vehicles in the process. Congratulations Cassidy. Brenton had a very strong showing in the Cairns Modified sedans with a 3rd in the first heat. The second heat saw an epic battle for the lead, with the big dollar VZ Commodore of Johnno Collins. The 30 year old Corty was up on the high line and Collins was down low. The corty had the grunt to stay ahead up on the high line, the longest way around the track. By all account it was a great race for 7 laps, but a blown front right tyre for Brenton put an end to the fight. The meeting then had to be abandoned due to rain. Promising signs for the new engine package.
Thanks to all my loyal followers, over 1000 likes. Awesome. Should be some more crossflow porn in here this week. My loan race motor is coming in for a quick check over after the clutch in Brenton's mighty corty modified failed last meeting. The old girl had a few trips up to the rev limiter so better to be safe than sorry. Hmm upgrade time???
Well team the likes are getting damn close to 1000. That is good news. Now the bad news - Contacted my supplier today to obtain more oil pumps to keep up with demand. Would you believe zero stock left in Australia. The supplier apparently did a ring around and nothing. October is the next delivery. All is not lost. I am on the hunt for some from O/S. If you want a pump and are able to supply one to me, I can still modify it to suit your application. This only applies to crossflow and pre-crossflow pumps. 4.0l pumps are available (but different to x-flow). My apologies to all those that have shown interest but this one is out of my hands.
