Pan Am Games, Sailing is looking to finalize the volunteer organization and the following roles are available: Crew, Dockmaster Services With assistance of the Supervisor, Dockmaster Services assist competitors in crane and ramp launching and hauling their boats, retrieving and returning trailers and dollies to their assigned spaces and assist with docking of coach boats and competitor boats that will remain in the water during the event. Previous dockmaster experience would be beneficial but not necessary. The time commitment for this role includes a certain amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games. Crew, Games Family Spectator Boats With assistance of the Supervisor, Games Family Spectator Boats, recruit local boat owners to volunteer to be a part of the Pan Am Games by operating their boat as a spectator boat for VIPs, foreign officials, delegations and family members of the athletes who would like to watch the sailing competition from the water. Assist with provisioning of boats, sign up process for spectators, assigning spectators to boats and assisting with docking of boat. Be available to go out on the spectator boat to assist captain with on board hospitality, providing colour commentary to the spectators and where possible, Spanish language interpretation. The time commitment for this role includes a certain amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games. Crew, Social Media Reporting Under direction from the Supervisor, Social Media Reporting, be a part of a team that provides live and instant, race reporting coverage on the water during racing using social media in a way that can be understood by a wide audience. Advanced knowledge of sailboat racing and social media is required. The time commitment for this role includes a certain amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games. Crew, Sport Information Desk Leading up to the games, work with the Supervisor, Sport Information Desk, to develop a resource manual and scripts to be used on site during the games to assist competitors with answers to their event related questions. During the games, volunteer at the Sport Information Desk to manage competitor sign in/sign out procedures, respond to inquires by the competitors, race committee, coaches and contractors and manage other information such as scoring results. The time commitment for this role includes a certain amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games. Crew, Field of Play Equipment Works with the Supervisor, Equipment to ensure efficient receiving, issuing and maintaining of all race committee equipment, including handheld electronics, marks, pins, anchors, rope and flags. Delivers these services as part of a team during early morning and late afternoon rush periods and manage the racing committee stores independently during quiet periods. The time commitment for this role includes a certain amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games. Crew, Field of Play, Communications Under the direction of the Supervisor, Communications, monitor one or more VHF channels (race committee boat, jurors, safety boats, etc.) and maintain a log of all relevant calls. Be able to recognize racing and/or safety situations that should be escalated to the Supervisor, Communications. Previous experience communicating on VHF Radios is beneficial. The time commitment for this role includes a certain amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games. Crew, Measurement Works with the Supervisor Measurement, as well as International Class Measurers in order to deliver official measurement procedures for all competitors and classes prior to games time as well as during games time as required. Familiarity with measurement would be beneficial but training will be provided. The time commitment for this role includes a certain amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games. Second Saturday Windsurf Race of the Year On Saturday June 27 Toronto Windsurfing Club will be holding Race #2. Fleets consist of RSX, Raceboard, Kona and Bic 293. Skippers meeting is at noon with first start at 1pm. We will have a highly experienced race committee as they are from the Pan Am games. All levels of racers are welcome. For those with limited racing experiencing we will be holding a race clinic starting at 11 am. Racing will run from 1pm with no race started past 5pm for a total of 4 races. Please come and join us.
