Gary Lewis ignited the window cleaning industry in Melbourne in the 1980s with Tower Window Cleaning (TWC) with his small team and expanded and reinvented this family tradition in the 1990s with his son Michael. Today, TWC continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning quality, competitive pricing and professional workmanship. TWC is also spearheading the employee safety revolution with its in-house training, real time support and highly selective employee selection program, and has entered the wider maintenance market bringing with it TWC’s eye for detail, safety focused mantra, and revolutionary techniques, which we have refined over the last 3 decades with Rialto. Focus on the client and all else will follow. Since our partnership began in 1987, we’ve focused on providing the best result possible for the Rialto management, tenants and visitors. Whether we’re abseiling down the side of the skyscraper or polishing marble stairs, we take great care to ensure that the end result reflects you in the best possible way, rather than our own internal goal or bottom line. Our management is experienced and knowledgeable, and available to you at any time. Our employees and highly trained and heavily screened, and our uniforms are clearly marked and designed to not be distracting in and around venue. We are trusted by the businesses that reside in the Rialto, and work for many of them in their homes. And when we use new techniques, new equipment or new technology we ensure beforehand that they work well with your existing infrastructure so your venue is always looking its best. It’s best to do one thing really, really well. We do windows. With some of Australia best window cleaners focused exclusively on you, our client, we know what we do well, and how we could do it better. Through continued iteration on technique and equipment, we’ve been able to service your issues and provide continuous improvements to a service that already makes your first impression for tenants and visitors a seamless experience. Our dedication to improving the Rialto helps us apply what we’ve learned through extensive product knowledge, the latest discoveries in our field and over 30 years of experience. Our immaculate safety record not only puts us in front of Melbourne based window companies, but at the forefront of the industry. By introducing weekly safety briefs, an always on connection to supervisors, and using the latest technology used by every employee during every shift, it has allowed us to detect issues before they happen, and keep the safety of our staff, fellow workers, tenants and management as our number one priority. You can be serious without a suit. Our founders built TWC around the idea that work should be challenging, and the challenge should be fun. We believe that great, creative things are more likely to happen with the right company culture–and that doesn’t just mean lava lamps and rubber balls. At TWC there is an emphasis on team achievements and pride in individual accomplishments that contribute to our overall success. We put great stock in our employees–energetic, passionate people from diverse backgrounds with creative approaches to work, play and life. People are everything We don’t just employ skilled, passionate and professional people to enhance our company – we believe that every one of our employees is entering into a larger family. After 30 years, the majority of our team have grown up in, around, and on top of the Rialto. Over this time we have forged strong relationships not only with the evolving management and tenants, but also with the service teams that, along with us, form the behind-the-scenes powerhouse that is driving the Rialto. Having professional relationships with engineering, cleaning, maintenance, security, food and hospitality and many more has made us a proud partner of the Rialtos core teams. Our atmosphere may be casual, but it is the highly selective employee process that ensures we have the absolute best of the best. Many of the other window cleaning companies in Melbourne suffer from the same issues with their staff – undertrained, underpaid and in many cases endangering the lives of fellow employees and staff at the venue. High turnover rates lead to less training, less teaching, and ultimately less quality for the client. It is not uncommon on other sites to see window cleaners consuming alcohol and drugs before and during their shift. TWC screens every prospective employee, and alcohol and drug testing is conducted randomly on all employees – and perhaps due to our rigorous screening, we are proud to say all of our random tests have always come back negative. Not that we expected anything different - over 75% of our team have been with us for more then 10 years. Great just isn’t good enough. We see being great at cleaning windows as a starting point, not an endpoint. We set ourselves goals we know we can’t reach yet, because we know that by stretching to meet them we can get further than we expected. Through innovation and iteration, we aim to take things that work well at the Rialto and improve upon them in unexpected ways. For example, we recently replaced over 120 hours of BMU work down to 20 hours with a pole, saving the client both time and money. We try to anticipate needs not yet articulated by tenants and management, and meet them with solutions that set new standards. When we first launched our service at the Rialto, we installed clipping harnesses to allow us to work in all conditions. In retrospect installing these clips seems obvious–but that’s because now we have new standards for working in different conditions. Those are the kinds of changes we seek to make, and we’re always looking for new places where we can make a difference.
