One of the fine Maine art galleries located in the historic Old Port, Portland, Maine, The Fore Street Gallery showcases original oil paintings and watercolors by local Maine artists and regional artists who specialize in Maine landscapes, Maine coast and surf, Portland Harbor, Monhegan Island, Boothbay Harbor and Acadia scenes. The Gallery also carries a variety of fine art photography and limited edition prints. The Fore Street Gallery opened May 1, 1998. Nestled in the Old Port district of Portland, the gallery is located in the historic Mariner's Church building on Fore Street between Moulton Street and Market Street, one block away from the harbor. The gallery moved into a larger space at 372 Fore Street on February 1, 2003. The space is 800 square feet and allows for display of framed original works by 20 artists. There is also a varied collection of matted originals, prints and photographs by many different artists. The collection includes a variety of subjects and sizes within an affordable price range.
