Tulane's Preventive Medicine Residency Program enables resident physicians to acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of preventive medicine and public health in real-life settings.

Description

The Tulane University General Preventive Medicine Residency Program is jointly sponsored by the Tulane University School of Medicine and the Tulane University School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine. The Preventive Medicine Residency Program is unique in that it is the only one in the state of Louisiana, and it allows preventive medicine professionals to sub-specialize in numerous areas that most other programs do not offer. During the two-year residency program, academic work leads to a Master of Public Health degree. Concurrently, a supervised practicum experience fosters application of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of preventive medicine and public health.

General Info

To be eligible to apply for the residency, physicians must have completed at least one year of ACGME-accredited clinical training (PGY-1) in the U.S. with a minimum of 11 months of direct patient care (i.e., provision of preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to patients). Applicants must be licensed, or be eligible to be licensed, to practice medicine in Louisiana.
