The XII Travelers is a non-profit (501C3) organization created to promote the rich history and cultural diversity of the Southwest through sculpture.
The XII Travelers - Memorial of the Southwest is a project initiated by artist John Sherrill Houser. It is based on the illustrated series, "The Twelve Travelers of the Pass of the North," by the late El Paso artist, Tom Lea, who was able to give great support to the project at its inception. John Houser is aided in his work by his son, Ethan Taliesin Houser. Completed works in the series are: Fray Garcia de San Francisco - on display downtown on the Pioneer Plaza, The Equestrian - on display at the entrance to the El Paso International Airport, and The Magoffin Family / Santa Fe - Chihuahua Trail Monument (Susan Magoffin) - on display at the Keystone Heritage Park. The next statue in the series is Benito Juarez - From Child to Man, which depicts Juarez as a young boy with a book, eager to learn, and as an adult, looking back on his accomplishments. Funding for the projects comes from both the public and private/business sectors. Donations to the project are always welcome and can be sent to XII Travelers - Memorial of the Southwest PO Box 1244 El Paso, TX 79913
