Good afternoon all Now that it seems the fire has abated and the main danger has passed, we wanted to give you an update on how our affected staff and Tyndale families fared. This may not be a complete list but it is the information we have at hand at this stage: • 21 families were evacuated, but have now all returned home. • 3 families were away on holiday, but would have been evacuated. They returned home to find everything as they left it. • 5 families have returned home after being evacuated, to find that the fire has come within metres of their properties, but that they had been spared of damage. • 3 families have had members as part of the CFS and are now finding things tough to deal with as they deal with things and places they were not able to save. • 6 families defended their properties with fires coming dangerously close to their homes. • 1 family we have not been able to receive word on their circumstances to date. If you have any information about other families/staff members, please let us know so that we can contact them, or alternatively share this post so that others in our community can be keep abreast of information. We have also had members of our community fighting the fires and working with relief/food distribution groups, which is very encouraging. God bless Mike Potter and Dani Hohneck
Good afternoon all Update on the fires. One of our staff members has had a containment line set up at the back of their block. They had a few flare ups yesterday. Thankfully everything has been quiet on the fire front today and they are now just praying for the rain. One of the churches has blessed them with a food package today for which they are extremely grateful. Thanks for your continued support and prayers. Blessings, Mike
Positive news today the threat factor has reduced to all known Tyndale community families despite the high temperatures. Still not out of the woods until the fire is completely contained, but folk are feeling far most positive overall. Please provide further updates if you have them. Blessings, Mike
Hi all Please invite as many Tyndalians as possible to like our page (Tyndale Christian School News Facebook Page) - not just because of information about the bush-fires, but to encourage them to keep up with what is happening at Tyndale. Especially invite old scholars or former teachers. We have picked up an extra 40 "likes" just from this afternoon. We have also been advised that 4 more Tyndalian families have had very close calls but are all safe and so are their houses. It is a great way to keep in touch! Blessings! Mike Potter
Hi Tyndalian Community Happy New Year! We wanted to get something out as soon as possible about the impact of the fires on our community. As of today this is what I have been able to ascertain; 1. Evacuated/left – 16 families ranging from staff, parents, board of governors and past parents. Most have been able to return but some have not. 2. 5 families stayed and fought the fire ALL houses saved. Some have incurred property damage. 3. 4 families had houses under serious threat but survived. 4. 1 family lost their beloved dog which is very sad. 5. One Tree Hill staff and families are all OK. 6. No news as yet on some families who live in Kersbrook. It seems at this stage that we have, as a whole, been remarkably spared for which we thank and praise God. Please continue to pray as the fire is not out. Please also pray for our amazing CFS and MFS fire-fighters, who have done an amazing job under frightening circumstances. We will give further updates if we hear anything more.
