For over one hundred years, the name Tyrrells was synonymous with Southampton, an ever-present on Above Bar Street through times of prosperity adversity. Opened in 1897, Tyrrell and Green was one of Southampton’s most famous department store names renowned for its quality and service, with a proudly local Southampton twist. In early 2018 the grand old name will return to Above Bar Street in an exciting new partnership between NST City and Mettricks. Reinterpreted, but with the very same principles at heart - quality and service – Tyrrells will bring the finest local food and drink and speciality coffee to the heart of Southampton’s new Cultural Quarter, overlooking Guildhall Square. A restaurant, a bar, a café. A restaurant that takes inspiration from the finest locally sourced food from around our county served with our city’s best hospitality at heart. A bar that serves up beers from some of our city’s most exciting breweries alongside fine wines and crafted cocktails. A café that serves Mettricks coffee and the finest loose teas alongside home-made cakes, afternoon teas and light bites. All within a landmark building overlooking the stunning Guildhall Square and central parks, whilst neighbouring one of the most exciting theatre developments in the UK, NST City. Tyrrells will be open every day, for exceptional food, a coffee with a view, a post work drink or as an accompaniment to visiting the theatre.
