UK Shaolin Temple

at Pitt Road, Southampton , SO15 3FQ United Kingdom

UK Shaolin Temple exists to share, promote, and preserve Chinese culture through educational initiatives, and physical activities. Welcome to UK Shaolin Temple’s Official Facebook. UK Shaolin Temple is a registered charitable company governed by a board of trustees in England and Wales. We are a unique organisation that exists to share, promote and preserve Shaolin culture. The ‘Shaolin’ culture refers to the activities, philosophies and lifestyles specific to the Chan Buddhist Shaolin Temple. These include a number of physical and philosophic activities such as Shaolin Kung Fu, Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Chan Meditation. In addition, as the Shaolin culture is not a self-contained entity but heavily influenced by its environment and wider culture, we are also committed to engage people with many aspects of wider Chinese culture. This includes its art, language, philosophies, folk traditions and worldviews. UK Shaolin Temple strives to present these cultural traditions in their purest form. By engaging people in these activities we believe that physical, mental and social wellbeing may be improved. This is achieved by keeping active, becoming conscious of our mental states and engaging with different cultures and life ways. Our founder, Shi Yan Min, is the inspirational force of the charity and works tirelessly to realise our mission. Our organisation, including its staff, volunteers and supporters, strongly believe in the benefits these cultures can bring to individuals and communities. What’s more, they also value the exceptional nature of these traditions and therefore strive to preserve them for future generations.

Jubilee Sailing Trust
12 Hazel Road, Woolston Southampton SO19 7GA United Kingdom

The Jubilee Sailing Trust is a registered charity that promotes the integration of people of all physical abilities. It does so through the medium of tall ship sailing on board two very special ships, Lord Nelson and Tenacious. Sailing with the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST), everyone can experience the thrill and adventure of life aboard a tall ship and be involved in almost every activity on board. Take the helm, set sails, climb the masts and keep watch. It's about what you can do, not what you can't, regardless of your physical ability or previous sailing knowledge. The JST operates Lord Nelson and Tenacious, the only tall ships in the world designed and built to enable people of all physical and sensory abilities to sail side-by-side with non-disabled people as equals. Everyone plays an active role in sailing and forms one united team, to embark on extraordinary and life-changing adventures.
