UMBC also was the top rated public university in undergraduate teaching. UMBC was tied with Stanford for fourth among all universities and colleges in undergraduate teaching behind only Dartmouth, Princeton and Yale. About the Athletics: UMBC sponsors 19 Division I sports - baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field and volleyball. UMBC is one of nine members of the America East Conference.
