We're starting off the week with an #FXTrainerSpotlight on our newest UAPC Hunt Valley trainer, Colleen Zimm. We're excited to have this ball of positive energy on the TEAM. Hometown: Napanoch, NY Favorite Athlete: Hope Solo What inspired me to become a trainer: Ever since as long as I can remember I have always been fascinated with human body. It amazes me how complex we are and how our internal environment finds a way to react and/or transmit signals super fast! On top of that I have always loved helping others. Now as I recollect on past events, it was when both my mother and grandfather were diagnosed with Cancer was when I knew I was destined to be in a field where putting a smile on someones face was a daily occurrence. Seeing people overcome the speed bumps that life likes to throw at us and assisting them on their journey is THE best feeling in the world! I guess what I am trying to say is every day people who overcome obstacles and adversity are what has inspired me to become the Trainer that I am today. What is my favorite workout and way to conduct it: ONE of my favorite movements is by far the Deadlift! There is no better feeling than picking up that bar, fighting through the lockout, and reaching that awesome, euphoric sensation at the end.I usually like to mess around with how I conduct them and love to throw in some core stability work right after! Fun Fact: I was a member of the Women's Club Ultimate Frisbee Team in college. Being able to help people achieve their goals and reach potentials that they never knew they had is what inspired me to become a trainer and is what is so rewarding about this profession. What is your favorite way to workout/favorite exercise? My favorite way to exercise is weightlifting. I love the complexity and challenge of Olympic lifts, specifically snatches. Fun Fact: I was a Baltimore Orioles Ball Girl in 2009.
