A community for Applied Psychology students and staff at the University of Cumbria.
The applied psychology team come from a range of applied psychology backgrounds bringing with them a wealth of expertise from clinical, organisational, community, health and forensic settings. Central to the study of psychology is a fascination with human behaviour. Applied psychology takes this interest further and looks at how our understanding of human behaviour can be used to affect change in the real world. Applied psychologists investigate questions that are of profound relevance to social policy and therefore peoples’ lives; for example: Does stress in the workplace really reduce your life expectancy? Is community punishment more effective than prison? The degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society as conferring eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) on achievement of a 2:2 or above. The Psychology team is able to draw upon colleagues from the complimentary disciplines of Law, Policing and Criminology and Social Sciences and continues to develop a range of opportunities that capture this breadth of knowledge and experience.
