Description

THERE IS A MAP TO U OF L'S COMMUNITY COMPOST SITE IN OUR PICTURES! Eco-Reps at the University of Louisville is an umbrella organization helping sustainability-oriented people and groups at UofL connect to make progress together. We have monthly meetings and greenhouse workdays on campus, and we sponsor other events throughout the year including 'field trips' to sites in the community like local farms, recycling facilities, and nature preserves. Ongoing Eco-Reps projects are the University's food waste composting and vermicomposting operations. We pick up organic waste from several organizations and locations on UofL's campus and turn it into compost and vermicompost with the help of student and community volunteers. The finished products are then used in the campus garden, donated to community gardens, and available to our volunteers for personal use. ALL of the donated material is thus diverted from landfills and made useful again. We also close the loop on U of L community gardens at Urban Planning and Public Affairs and Garden Commons by donating soil and labor to those projects. Eco-Reps activities are for everyone in the Metro Louisville community, whether you are affiliated with U of L or not.
