Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their pre-college performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of post-secondary education

Description

The CSUSB Upward Bound Program serves a total of 100 high school students from Arroyo Valley, Carter, Eisenhower, Pacific, Rialto, and San Bernardino High Schools. Students generally start the four-year program at the beginning of their freshmen year and remain in the program until they graduate from high school. UB participants are four times more likely to earn an undergraduate degree than those students from similar backgrounds who do not participate in Upward Bound. The mission of Upward Bound CSUSB is to education and prepare students for college and lifelong learning. We also strive to enlighten and instill the ideas of achievement in all aspects necessary to succeed collegiately and personally.
