We are patiently awaiting our summer campers, and the #AmeriCorps Summer Educators are preparing through 3 weeks of orientation & training. Here we challenged them to a team building game of creating their own fort on the farm. Go team!
We have our own day, what??!! Well, don't we feel special. :)

#AmeriCorp Spotlight Time! What's your name? Jordan Petrilla Where are you from? Incline Village, Nevada If you were a fruit or vegetable, what would you be and why? I would be an avocado, because they grow best in warm, humid conditions. They also can be used in so many ways: on toast, as sauce, or simply on its own. What are you most excited about for your term? I am most excited for teaching and seeing the kid’s passion for learning important and sustainable topics that they are not normally exposed to in their schools. Have a fun fact for us about yourself? I’ve jumped into Lake Tahoe in the middle of winter. Have a great story about an experience at UR so far? Anytime all of us are laughing together I look around and realize what an awesome team and workspace I have.

Happy Friday! Not many Western medical facilities can brag about an on-site garden as a supplement to health care options. Reno News & Review wrote a bit more about our plans and hopes for our partnership with Renown Health. Doesn't it look like our goats are smooching in the pic? :) https://www.newsreview.com/reno/alternative-medicine/content?oid=20946522
We have a fabulous new partner in BFF Cafe. They will be providing delicious and nutritious breakfast for our event, "Family Sleepover on the Farm" on June 25th. There are still spots left, so sign up and get pumped!
Beneficial Bugs Baby! Our kiddos are building ladybug habitats and releasing 1500 of them into our garden today. We have some super excited kids with Urban Roots Educator Dave. 🐞
The Reno Sparks Indian Colony Head Start class came to learn about animals, and where our food comes from. We are so happy to have the opportunity host these bright, curious, and adorable students! We started the day by playing a stand up, sit down game based on favorite foods derived from popular farm animals.
Wind, solar, and hydroelectric systems generate electricity with no associated air pollution emissions. While #Geothermal and #Biomass energy systems emit some air pollutants, total air emissions are generally much lower than those of coal- and natural gas-fired power plants. Renewable Energy will be the main topic at The Next #International #Conference in#Spain on: "Alternative & Renewable Energy Quest in Architecture and Urbanism” #AREQAU https://goo.gl/V1gNPg Call for Paper To Be Published By #ELSEVIER
