At check in, guests must present one of the following: 1. a foreign-issued passport 2. a Canadian driver's license 3. an out-of-state American driver's license. Guests may also be asked to present proof of travel. People under the age of 16 are not permitted to stay in dorm rooms unless the entire dorm is rented. People under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone. Families with small children should contact the hostel before booking.

How To Get to USA Hostels San Francisco

From airports: BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT: From San Francisco International Airport - catch the tram in the arrivals area which will take you to the BART stop. Take BART to Powell Street station. ($8.10) From Oakland International Airport - take the AirBART bus to Coliseum BART station ($3, exact change required.) Take a BART train to Powell Street station. ($3.80) At Powell Street, exit station and take escalator to street level. At the top of the escalator you will see the cable car turn around. Turn left and walk up Powell Street to Post Street (follow the cable cars). Turn left onto Post and walk four blocks to Jones Street. The hostel will be on your left after you cross Jones. BY SHUTTLE: If you have lots of bags or are just too tired to use public transport you can take a shuttle to our hostel. From SFO - exit from the baggage claim and cross the walkway. Look for the shuttle signs. Hop on with Airport Express. While they regularly transport our guests, just remind them that USA Hostels is at the corner of Post and Jones. The cost is $17 per person plus tip (usually $1-$2 depending on how many bags you have) From Greyhound: Exit the station onto Folsom Street and go right. Turn right at the first corner, on Beale Street. Take bus 38 direction 48th or Ocean Beach. Get off at Geary and Jones. From there, walk uphill on Jones to Post, and turn left. The hostel is on the left-hand side after you turn on Post. From Amtrak: From the Amtrak drop-off at San Francisco Shopping Center, cross Market Street and head towards the cable car turn around. Walk up Powell Street (follow the cable car tracks) to Post Street and turn left onto Post. Walk four blocks to Jones Street. The hostel will be on the left-hand side of Post Street after you cross Jones. Driving: Take Interstate 80 West across the Bay Bridge ($4 cash toll) and exit at 5th Street. From exit ramp bear left onto Harrison Street. Follow Harrison to second light and turn right onto 7th Street. Take 7th across Market Street and follow signs to Leavenworth Street (street bears to the left.) Turn right onto Leavenworth and take it to Post Street, turn right onto Post. Hostel will be one block down on the right-hand side of the street. From US-101 North: Take 7th Street exit and bear left onto 7th Street from exit ramp. Task 7th across Market Street and follow signs for Leavenworth Street (street bears to the left.) Turn right onto Leavenworth and take it to Post Street, turn right onto Post. Hostel will be one block down on the right-hand side of the street.

General Info

As street parking can be a bit complicated in San Francisco, we recommend a parking lot located just around the corner from our hostel. The cost is $15 per day. We do have a loading zone making it possible for you to park in front of our building while you unload your luggage and check-in.
