How To Get to VCU Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program

The goals of the VCU Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) are to facilitate and support student-faculty research collaborations that will allow undergraduates to gain meaningful research and creative experiences outside of the classroom. This follows the National Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) definition: "Undergraduate Research is an inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate in collaboration with a faculty mentor that makes an original intellectual thought or creative contribution to the discipline." UROP Activities and Methods of Support - Provide students in all disciplines with information on how to become involved in undergraduate research. - Strive to build awareness and increase student participation in research opportunities across campus. - Provide VCU administration and faculty with an overview of undergraduate research and creative scholarship. - Coordinate and facilitate the VCU Undergraduate Summer Fellowship Program and Annual Poster Symposium - Identify areas where collaboration could be fostered across academic departments. - Provide on-going programming to facilitate and promote undergraduate research. - Celebrate outstanding faculty and students for their achievements in undergraduate research endeavors.
