IMAGINE.... See if you can guess.... See if you've already heard... Here are THREE clues to discovering this secret ingredient to our "natural facelift" in a jar.... 1) It has Anti-Age Related Functions/Healing A SUBSTANCE so powerful that it can swiftly and painlessly move through the human body knitting together fissures, soothing inflammation, and plumping up the immune system! It can INCREASE the positive effects of other "super" antioxidants like vitamins C and E, by protecting them in the body and helping them do a better job in "squashing" free radicals! It is a UNIVERSAL antioxidant, which means that it is a substance that is both water and fat soluble. Unlike vitamins C and E, it can fight free radicals in every part of a cell and even enter into the space between cells. It even protects DNA! It INCREASES cell metabolism. As we age, cell metabolism slows down. Increasing cell metabolism increases energy production and the cell's capacity to heal. It is the ONLY antioxidant known to do this effectively! This antioxidant nutrient IMPROVES the cells' response to insulin and can help stabilize blood sugar levels! 2) It Promotes Brain Function It can CROSS the blood-brain barrier, a wall of tiny vessels and structural cells, and pass easily into the brain. It is thought to protect brain and nerve tissue by preventing free radical damage. 3) It Protects and Assists in Healing Peripheral Neuropathy (nerve damage in hands and feet) This POTENT antioxidant works in both water and fatty tissue, enabling it to "rapidly" enter all parts of the nerve cell and protect it from damage. DID YOU GUESS? It is the super antioxidant known as "ALPHA LIPOIC ACID"! It is a completely natural molecule that exists deep inside every cell of our bodies. When made available to living cells, it "quickly enters" those cells and offers extensive anti-inflammatory action and protection from free radicals! Without a doubt, ALPHA LIPOIC ACID is the superior, "super" antioxidant that is a "must have" anti-aging substance for not only our brain and body, but also for our skin! You may eat it in natural food sources (including red meat, spinach, broccoli, potatoes, yams, carrots), or as a supplement, or you can now purchase it at Victoria's Spa as a day cream or night repair cream! Why not start your natural facelift now, and see the immediate anti-aging results, with our beautiful Alpha Lipoic Acid cream. At Victoria's Spa, we carry an "ALPHA LIPOIC ACID" day cream for $49.99, or the "DMAE with Alpha Lipoic Acid" night repair cream for $49.99! Drop by Victoria's Spa to pick up your cream at: 4215 Terwillegar Vista NW (Riverbend area), Edmonton, Alberta, T6R 2Y7. (Ph: 780-468-0066)

Ladies, at Victoria's Spa, we use ONLY "cosmeceuticals"!! THIS IS VITAL AND IMPORTANT TO KNOW....please read on..... Ever wondered what the difference is between cosmeceutical, pharmaceutical & cosmetic grade skin care products? Well, I have easy to understand explanations, that will completely change your outlook on makeup, skin cleansers, creams, etc. Here's are the differences: COSMETICS: Cosmetic quality is what department (at the designer kiosks of The Bay, etc.) stores; also, drug and grocery stores sell (in the make-up skin care aisles). These include the big and expensive brands and the cheaper ones. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows cosmetic grade products to contain up to 30% bacteria. This means that ingredients may only be 70% pure. It is a large breeding ground for bacteria, which can lead to contact dermatitis, an itchy red rash. This is why makeup packaging tells us to throw away any unused product every 90-180 days. And 95% of the skincare industry is cosmetic quality and unregulated by the FDA. Cosmetic companies are not required to register their products with the FDA, while cosmetic products are subjective and do not reflect or require scientific testing. Plus, the FDA approves these products to penetrate only as deep as the first layer of skin, that is "the dead skin cell" layer (the stratum corneum) so in essence, all they serve to do to your skin, is "buff and fluff" your dead skin cells! So much for fixing chronic problems like acne, or deep pigment discoloration (melasma), or inflammation that precipitates wrinkles and fine lines! Plus, the cost of these designer labels are outrageous, especially when you discover how little product actually comes in a tube! SO LADIES, do you want to pay loads of money just for pretty packaging, or use your money to pay for the real deal (see below info. on cosmeceuticals)??? COSMETICS ARE INTENDED ONLY to improve superficial appearance of skin! PHARMACEUTICALS: Pharmaceutical grade skin care products are FDA regulated. The FDA requires that pharmaceutical grade products be 99.9% pure ingredients. Products must contain 0.1%, or less, of bacteria. Only 5% of the skin care industry is under the regulation established by the FDA and considered pharmaceutical grade skin care products. These products can only be administered by doctors or estheticians. They are approved by the FDA to penetrate beyond the first layer of skin, as far or as deep as all the layers of your skin, deep to where blood vessels are (eg. progesterone creams, essential oils like melaleuca). They actually produce significant results in targetting and reducing inflammation, destroying bacteria, rebuilding collagen & elastin, nourishing the deep skin layers with vitamins, etc., and significantly reducing or even completely healing severe chronic skin condtions. PHARMACEUTICALS ARE INTENDED TO heal and improve skin health deeply, and also improve appearance! COSMECEUTICALS: While the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) does not recognize the term "cosmeceutical," the cosmetic industry uses this word to refer to cosmetic products that have medicinal or drug-like benefits, CONTAINING SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER PERCENTAGES OF ACTIVE INGREDIENTS THAN COSMETICS, and perform the same as pharmaceuticals. The FD&C Act defines drugs as those products that cure, treat, mitigate or prevent disease or that affect the structure or function of the human body. Drugs are subject to a review and approval process by FDA, and as with pharmaceuticals, cosmeceuticals are approved to penetrate into the deeper layers of skin, accomplish the same effectiveness as pharmaceuticals. If a product has drug properties, it must be approved as a drug. So cosmeceuticals include cosmetics, makeup, and therapeutic creams or products, that not only act and behave like pharmaceuticals, but have very high percentages of active ingredients like them, and will penetate into the deeper layers of skin to heal deeply significant chronic skin conditions! Thus the term "cosmeceutical" was born (therapeutic creams, serums, and cosmetics that are FDA approved and behave like pharmaceuticals), a term that combines the two! COSMECEUTICALS (like pharmaceuticals) ARE INTENDED TO heal and improve skin health deeply, and also improve appearance! At Victoria's Spa, I sell/have "cosmeceuticals" exclusive only to my spa here in Edmonton and Western Canada (Rejime by Nicole Sistani), and I have the best promotions and prices. Call and make an appointment to find out more about our products and specials, or make an appmt with myself, Victoria (780-468-0066) for a free consultation (see my Spring 2014 Promo below). :)

LADIES, PLEASE READ!!! FAQs: ACTIVE INGREDIENTS VS. INACTIVE INGREDIENTS: A lot of my clients have questions about how and when to use their skin care products they have purchased at Victoria's Spa, once they get home. Here are some FAQs or information that I hope will help. * my products are cosmeceuticals, so they have FDA approved, "active" ingredients that penetrate into the deeper layers of skin (first 2-3 layers) where there are blood vessels, nerves and neurons, as opposed to "over the counter cosmetics" that have very small percentages of active ingredients and are only FDA approved to penetrate the top "dead cell" stratum corneum l layer of the skin * the term "active" refers to a substance or product that is "biologically active", in that its molecules are actively working to produce beneficial effects on live matter or living skin * When you combine deep penetration with an "active" moving substance or product into the skin, a person can actually feel these live substances reaching nerves and/or neurons (found only the second to third layers of the skin), producing a "tingling" effect when applied, which can last from 1 minute up to half an hour, or even longer, depending on how active the product is, how deep it penetrates, and how sensitive a person's skin can be, and many other variables such as age, ethnicity, diet, and overall will determine the reaction or tingling * the sensation of "tingling" is considered normal and healthy, but it's not to be confused with a severe burning sensation (such as a sunburn, which you don't want) and should be monitored and/or looked at * my clients rarely if never go back to using "over the counter cosmetics" after using "active" ingredients in their skin, because they soon equate that tingling activity with a healing, rejuvenating and anti-aging process – they adopt my motto: “IF IT TINGLES, IT WORKS” * as each client has different skin and different reactions, an Esthetician may recommend totally different skin care regiments with each client, based on how their skin reacted in the spa to the products. Go with the regime that your Esthetician recommends even if it is different than indicated on the product. The instructions on the product are general recommendations which are not optimal nor best for you. * accordingly, a client’s skin's reaction to the active ingredients, and the length of time it reacts after she leaves the spa, is SIGNIFICANTLY affected by whether her skin has previously been treated with the use of over the counter skin care products as well as the type of skin she has, and her skin condition at the time (too much tanning, or just being out in the sun too long, or burning, acne, working out, or chronic skin conditions can precipitate sometimes or encourage more tingling or reactions). Keep in mind that just like an inactive muscle that has been worked for the first time, it will be slightly sore and tender for a day or two, but then in time it adjusts and becomes stronger when there has been an ongoing program of proper consistent exercise; likewise, we may feel varying degrees of tingling or reactions in our skin, when first starting a skin care regiment with “active ingredients, but eventually it will toughen up to the point where it will be conditioned, healthy and strong, it will no longer react get sore unless you really overdo it. And just like you can grow to love that feeling of a healthy soreness a day or two after workout; likewise you will grow to love that tingling feeling from giving your skin a healthy workout with active ingredients. I hope this gives some clarity! You can call me any time with questions or concerns about our products and/or your skin. Regards, Victoria’s Spa (780) 468-0066 or text me at (780)863-7055

Ladies...DARK CIRCLES UNDER YOUR EYES??? - feel embarrassed to take your concealer off at night? - hate looking in the mirror cause all you see are those dark, indentations under your eyes, and have to painstakingly cover them? - tired of looking old, drawn, and even sick because these dark circles just won't go away? As we age, our skin becomes thinner, making the blood vessels appear more noticeable, thereby giving the appearance of dark circles. Dark circles can be caused by our lifestyle, ethnicity, allergies, sinus problems and nasal congestion, sun exposure and diminished fat pads underneath the eyes. The good news is there are a number of things that can be done to address the causes and minimize the appearance of dark circles. At Victoria's Spa we have the latest cutting-edge ingredients in our under eye Dark Circle Serum. Here's a list of our active ingredients that you know you can trust to reduce or maybe even eliminate these nagging, dismal dark circles. (See my next posting for practicum steps we can take to hide, conceal or cover dark circles under the eyes). REJIME'S UNDER EYE DARK CIRCLE SUPERPOWER CREAM - ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol bitartrate) - one of the "superpowers" of antioxidants, and a must have ingredients in most if not all skin care products! You can give your skin the same kind of quick satisfaction you get from a sinful dessert. And just about the time it takes you to finish a sinful dessert, DMA complex can produce a visible and gratifying improvement; it's quick, easy and it works! DMAE is naturally produced in small quantity by human brain. From nature, it can be found in abundance in fish such as sardines and especially in salmon. On applying to skin, DMAE molecule inserts itself between the components of the cell membranes and becomes a part of them to render the membranes more resistant to organic stress. DMAE can also stimulate production of arachidonic acid and other proinflammatory mediators to stabilize the cell membrane by preventing their destruction. Due to these positive effects, DMAE is often added as ingredient in skin cream and is applied topically to flaccid areas or areas with wrinkles or signs of aging. Additionally, DMAE could act on the musculature, by increasing muscular tension as a precursor of acetylcholine. DMAE leads to an increased muscle tension, increased formation of wrinkles and marks of expression by action of the muscles on the skin. A randomized clinical study has proved that, 3% DMAE facial gel applied daily for 16 weeks is safe and effective to soften the age-lines on the forehead and fine wrinkles on the face. Dimethylaminoethanol also aids in improving lip shape and improving the overall appearance of the sagging skin. After 2-weeks of application, a marked change was noted in the appearance of coarse wrinkles, under-eye dark circles, nasolabial folds and sagging neck skin. The application is also tolerated by the skin with no erythema, peeling, dryness, itching, burning, or stinging. DMAE skin care creams are produced by a variety of different companies. DMAE stands for Dimethylaminoethanol which is a substance everyone has that stimulates cell growth. DMAE is a topical solution that works to eliminate the effect of facial sagging that occurs in older people. DMAE skin care can tighten up the skin on the face and neck and make it appear less sagging. There is also evidence that DMAE skin care, when used correctly, can prevent further sagging of the facial skin. Chrysin Also having its origin from plant compounds, Chrysin is a potent flavinoid that's effective for reducing puffiness and swelling. It also has considerable anti-inflammatory properties. When used by itself, Chrysin works well to dilate blood vessels. Such dilation helps to keep capillaries from leaking which, consequently, prevents the emergence of new dark circles. Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3 and Palmitoyl oligopeptide These peptides contain matrikines (Pal-GHK and Pal-GQPR), which act as messengers and activate certain genes to renew and repair the skin's collagen and elastin. They activate the neo-synthesis of extracellular matrix macromolecule to minimize wrinkles and fine lines, improve elasticity and tone and face lift effect (especially in areas where the skin is getting thinner such as under the eyes). These peptides are used in anti-aging skin care products as they improve skin elasticity and minimizes fine-lines and wrinkles. It is especially helpful for thinning, dry or sun-damaged skin. These peptides are used in anti-aging skin care products as they improve skin elasticity and minimize fine-lines and wrinkles. The most effective dark circles eye creams will have advanced powerful ingredients like Hesperidin methyl chalcone, Palmitoyl oligopeptide and Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3. Together these ingredients work to diminish broken blood vessels under the skin which cause dark under eye circles and stimulate collagen production to repair flaws like fine lines and wrinkles. The results are radiant eyes and smoother younger looking skin. Below is a list of the most advanced ingredients to remove stubborn dark circles. N-Hydroxysuccinimide N-Hydroxysuccinimide is used in cosmetics and beauty products as an ester often seen in eye creams. N-hydroxysuccinimide activates the elimination of blood originated pigments responsible for dark color and inflammation that causes under eye circles. "Infra-orbital shadows are due to the accumulation of hemoglobin and its colored degradation products - biliverdin, bilirubin and iron - in the dermis and epidermis ... N-hydroxysuccinimide renders the iron soluble for natural elimination"). Morus Alba (Mulberry) leaf Extract Morus alba root bark comes from the deciduous morus alba tree. The white mulberry tree (Morus alba) originated in China where it has been used extensively in medicine. Native to China, it has been cultivated in Japan, Australia and Europe for a long time. Mulberries generally help the skin and slow its aging process. The rich anti-oxidant content found in these root bark aids in preventing formation of wrinkles and slow down aging process. Giving these palace beauties smooth delicate, silky, fair looking skins. Cosmetologists promote it as an extract for hair growth, a skin-bleaching product for age spots, dark circles under eyes, and uneven skin tone, and as a skin lightener. These roots bark consist of excellent properties to enhance whitening effect, removing impurities and residual rough skin. This extract reduces the production of melanin in the skin as a reaction to UV exposure and so has a lightening effect on the skin, especially in areas where there may be an excess of melanin such as dark circles under the eyes. The compound attributed with lightening the skin is arbutin, a form of hydroquinone that inhibits melanin release by suppressing the tyrosinase enzyme. Hyaluronic Acid Hyaluronic acid is often used to correct dark circles created by thinning under eye skin or fat and tissue loss in the under eyes or upper cheeks, by restoring volume to the tear trough or upper cheek area. In topical products like moisturizers and serums, the hyaluronic acid molecule works in an unexpected way. Not only is the molecule itself slippery, it’s too large to be absorbed through the skin surface into the skin, so it sits on top and doesn’t go anywhere for a long time. This allows the water that it is dissolved in, or that it attracts from the environment, to sit on the skin too, keeping everything hydrated. That’s apparently why hyaluronic acid is so popular as an ingredient in anti-aging creams. Rather than actually changing the skin, the hyaluronic acid “plumps up” the skin, making it look and feel younger. It also has a bit of an anti-inflammatory component and is very soothing on the skin, in addition to aiding wound healing, which makes it great for use after laser resurfacing procedures or burn injuries. Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate A very stable form of Vitamin C. Known to lighten and brighten the skin, and suppress melanin production, and also increase skin's elasticity and hydration levels. LADIES,..... Our NEW EFA CREAM ($39.99) has arrived! We have an "award winning" cream now available! Have you heard about it??? It's our brand new Rejime's EFA (Essential Fatty Acid) Cream! What's amazing about it? FIRSTLY, it's concept is based on other formulas that have won prizes and recognition from “ICMAD,” the highly-respected “Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors Association,” who, each year, present the Innovator awards for various cosmetic categories. SECONDLY, Rejime's formula contains more than 10 superior EFA's, both the Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids: Sunflower Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Borage Oil, Rosehip Oil, Hemp Oil, Avocado Oil, Wheet Germ Oil, Black Currant Seed Oil, Olive Oil, Sesame Seed Oil, Pomegranate Oil, Mixed Tocopherols (fat soluble Vitamin E's) Olive Squalene (EFA known as "nature's facelift", mirrors human lipids), Soy Liposome, Green Tea Extract, Sweet Almond Oil... Rejime's “EFA’s Cream” - with Omega-3 and Omega- 6 fatty acids from plants - helps rebuild skin cell membranes, allowing thin skin on face, hands and other areas to become plumper, more supple and flexible. “This rejuvenation, this added thickness to thin skin shows a smoother, softer look and feel,” according to skin care professionals." Topical application of Rejime's EFA cream is an effective means of delivering EFAs to the skin and, eventually, to the rest of body. Because a significant portion of ingested EFAs may be oxidized by the liver (up to 60% of ALA - Omega 3, and 20% of LA - Omega 6) before reaching peripheral tissues, topical application may be a more efficient route of delivery for skin effects, especially during deficiency. Topically applied sunscreens protect our skin from the damaging effects of UVR (UVA/UVB), but their influence is local and temporary, application may be incomplete, and the vast majority of UVR exposure occurs during non-vacation time, when many individuals forgo sunscreen. There are a number of endogenous (internal, natural) defense mechanisms in place to protect the skin from UVR, including melanin production, antioxidant defenses, and enzymatic repair pathways. Cross-sectional studies have reported that higher dietary intakes of EFAs or topical application of EFA's are associated with more youthful skin appearance and photoprotection from these harmful UVR rays. Come and see me, Victoria, at Victoria's Spa or call me, and ask about this new, top selling cream! (780) 468-0066; (780) 863-7055
