Video Pool Media Arts Centre is a Winnipeg based nonprofit, artist-run centre dedicated to the creation, exhibition and promotion of independent media art. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Video Pool Media Arts Centre promotes, exhibits and supports the creation of independent media art. We foster an innovative community of artists working in sound, video, electronics, robotics, biotech, computing, and emerging technologies. Our production centre includes location gear and in-house recording and editing facilities for video and sound, as well as an open lab for electronic experimentation. Video Pool’s unique 5.1 mixing suite offers state of the art equipment housed in a specially designed acoustic space. Our distribution department works to create income for artists while building and preserving a comprehensive catalogue of Canadian prairie video and sound art. Video Pool also provides low cost workshops for new and established artists along with production funds to aid in the creation of new work. All this while offering free public exhibitions, artist talks and conferences to encourage awareness of and dialogue concerning new media art forms.
