View Point Gallery is part art gallery, part retail space and part community hub. Combining elements from all creative fields, from music through to craft - VPHG aims to serve the artistic community and the residents of Bendigo. Providing an avenue to showcase the amazing talent on offer in our beautiful town. Our mission has always been to develop a space where we can support and encourage the growth of the creative community. We want to make connections with artists and crafters in these initial stages, but as we progress we will be opening avenues to showcasing performance artists, musicians and all creative talent – approach us with your idea and we will do our best to work with you! In conjunction with our retail space we will also host a multi-room upstairs gallery to showcase solo and group art exhibitions. Here's a brief recap of the past few years, since we launched in September 2011: We have hosted over 100 different artists and showcased over 230 individual artworks. Many of these have been new and emerging artists; a fair percentage are first time exhibitors! We have also utilised the gallery to support charity and not-for-profit groups; hosting film screenings, photo shoots, fundraising drives and charity events. There have been pop-up shops, book readings, meetings, an ETSY craft party, we've held crafternoons and workshops... And all of that is just upstairs! In the retail space downstairs we have showcased the handmade creations of over 135 different crafters, with around 90 in store currently. We also have a range of local magazines and publications, an expanding craft supplies range and a cafe that is slowly labouring into existence. All of these facts and figures barely scrape the surface of the connections we have made within the creative community in Bendigo - we have SO many plans for the future of VPHG! We're always open to ideas and suggestions from those we stand to serve - if you want to get involved at VPHG, please don't hesitate to get in touch... We'd love to hear your big (or not-so-big) idea!
