During the early 1600's it was customary for the Lord of the Manor to give his bride a piece of silver as a wedding gift. This was symbolically represented by a sixpence coin. It later became a tradition to include a sixpence in the dowry that was given by the bride's family to the groom. That tradition of the sixpence as a symbol of good luck continues today. By a bride having a sixpence in their shoe its meant to bring good health to the couple as well as great wealth. My sixpences are original and left alone to keep character, simply clip them on your shoe for your special day, i can do most crystal colours, pearls or lace for you and can change the fastening to ribbon or a badge/brooch style if you wish to pin it on.
