The Wild Spaces Vision Quest is a rite of passage. It facilitates and honours the passing of one stage in a person's life and the beginning of the next. Through fasting alone in the wilderness, a practice inherited from many native cultures, the Vision Quest can enable individuals to discover meaning in their lives and find inner strengths. It is a transition from old ways of being to new, with the Earth as teacher, witness and guide. The quester leaves the comfort and familiarity of society and prepares to go alone into the forest for 4 days. They are truly alone, possibly for the first time in their lives. Only nature is there. As the body empties, so the many masks and roles the quester may carry drop away. Their true nature comes to the surface. This is a time to face oneself fully, a time for ritual letting go of old wounds, grieving, healing and the starting of new paths.
