The Walker Wellness Clinic is a residential, outpatient, and aftercare treatment facility based in Dallas at Cooper Aerobics Center, and Houston in the Galleria Area. Our headquarters in North Dallas is ideally situated on the world famous 30 acre preventive medicine campus with access to a 62 room guest lodge for patients and families who wish to reside during treatment, and comprehensive medical services at Cooper Clinic. In addition, on-campus restaurants, catering services and a cookery compliment quality nutrition treatment for all patients. Furthermore, facilities such as a full service spa, fitness center, tennis courts and swimming pools are accessible for patients who are ready to transition to an active lifestyle. The tranquil setting, extensive facilities, comprehensive programs and experienced clinicians create the ideal milieu for exceptional treatment.
The Walker Wellness Clinic provides exceptional treatment for individuals struggling with a formal eating disorder. We also provide treatment for co-morbidity diagnosis such as depression, anxiety disorders or obsessive compulsive disorders. We provide a full range of treatment options from two hours per week standard outpatient to our seven day extended care program. We also provide treatment designed for weekends.
We recognize that individuals are unique so we place more emphasis on individual psychotherapy, nutrition therapy and physiological education along with group, family, and adjunct therapy. Our clinical services offered by our professional treatment team are compatible with the country’s leading multidisciplinary treatment facilities. As a result, we offer one of the most comprehensive and clinical outpatient programs available.
Our treatment goal is to help the patient to become a rational, productive happy person, to help her develop a high level of self-esteem and a harmony of thinking and emotion. Our emphasis is not only on symptom removal, but on the development of the psychological and practical tools necessary for successful living.
We provide an inexpensive alternative to inpatient programs for patients who are medically stable without compromising clinical care. In addition, we offer aftercare programs for patients recently discharged from a hospital or a residential program.
Our philosophy is to provide an environment that allows patients to maintain their current lifestyle such as continuing their extracurricular, academic and/or occupational functioning. Therefore, we offer partial day, evening hours and a weekender program to accommodate a productive lifestyle. We encourage patients to participate in scheduling their own clinical program, and patients may choose from a menu of adjunct therapies such as art therapy, music therapy and cooking classes.
We objectively measure energy expenditure, nutritional intake, body composition, and resting metabolic rate to determine an accurate physiological status. Therefore, the patient’s current physiological condition, nutrition requirements, and healthy weight range is established based a number of individualized assessments to avoid guess work, an excessive weight gain, and uncertainty. In addition, comprehensive psychological testing is used to identify the underlying causes of the eating disorder at the onset of treatment and throughout the course of treatment to objectively measure progress.
