On March 20, 2015, at 1:06am, a pickup truck parked in the lot of 55 Glamis Road suffered extensive damage due to a vehicle fire. Cambridge Fire Department attended the scene to successfully extinguish the fire and Waterloo Regional Police attended to briefly shut down Glamis Road near DiPietro's bakery. Two other nearby vehicles suffered minor damage due to the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and at this time is being considered as having suspicious circumstances. On Wednesday March 18, 2014, at approximately 8:17 p.m., a break and enter occurred at a student residence on Austin Drive in Waterloo. Electronics and cash were taken. Police responded and arrested a 19 year old Cambridge male. Another male is being sought. Police are reminding the community to contact police for any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. On March 17th, 2015 Waterloo Regional Police and Kitchener Fire Department responded to Brook Green Park located in the city of Kitchener for a reports of a burning park bench. The fire was brought under control and police are investigating. Two males were seen in the area of the fire. On Saturday March 14 2015, at approximately 8:15 two 14 year old males were walking along the train track between Bishop St N and Montrose St. in the city of Cambridge. They were met by a lone male suspect who demanded their money. The suspect made off with a small amount of cash. No one was injured during this incident. The suspect is described as a White male, 5'8''-5'10'', medium build wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants. On Monday March 9, 2015 shortly before 4:00pm, a Kitchener man was met by 3 male suspects in the area of Green Valley Drive and Arrowhead Cres. The suspects allegedly struck the male and stole his watch, then fled in a vehicle. At this time the suspects are unknown. On Saturday, March 7, 2015 just before 2:00 a.m. a pizza delivery person arrived at a residence on Alison Ave in Cambridge. As the delivery person was standing in the front vestibule, they were approached by two male suspects dressed in black winter clothing. One suspect was wearing a black ski mask with eye holes who approached the person from behind. The suspect with the mask allegedly took the person's cell phone and car keys and then sprayed the victim in the face with an irritant believed to be pepper spray. The delivery person dropped the pizza which the male picked up and then left the vestibule. At this time there are no known suspects. On Friday, March 6th, 2015, at about 2:15 p.m., a motor vehicle collision occurred at Highland Rd. W. and Belmont Ave W in the City of Kitchener. One driver involved suffered minor injury. One vehicle sideswiped another vehicle and left the scene. The suspect vehicle that left the scene was described as an older Pontiac Grand Prix, beige in color, and should have damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. On Thursday February 26, 2015 at approximately 9:30 p.m. a 36 year old Kitchener male was walking in the area of Block line Road and Strasburg Road in Kitchener, when he was approached by two unknown males The victim was assaulted causing minor injuries. The males then fled the area on foot with the victim's pizza. The suspects are described as: 1)White, early 20's, 6', 180lbs, dark brown/gray hoodie, jeans. 2) White, early 20's, 5'10" 180lbs, shaved head, NY Yankees ball cap navy blue, red winter jacket, gray jogging pants. Waterloo Regional Police are investigating two incidents in the Kingsway Drive/Franklin St./Fairway Road/Vanier Drive neighborhood of Kitchener that appear to involve the same male. On February 19, 2015, the male was given money to shovel snow for a homeowner and subsequently stole the homeowner's wallet. The male is described as White, early 20's, 5'8", clean shaven, short hair, hat and dark jacket. On February 13, 2015, a male took it upon himself to shovel a homeowner's driveway and then knocked on the door demanding money. The male is described as White, 30 yrs., medium build, short brown hair, toque, heavy jacket, snow pants and carrying a shovel. Police are reminding the public to be extra cautious around strangers and to report suspicious activity to police at once by calling 519 653 7700 ext. 4499 or Crime Stoppers 1 800 222 8477. On February 19, 2015 at 6:31 p.m. a 35 year old male walking alone was approached by two males in the area of Churchill Park located at 200 Christopher Dr. in the city of Cambridge. The suspects brandished a weapon and demanded money from the victim. An undisclosed amount of money was surrendered by the victim without further incident. The males fled the area in a grey SUV motor vehicle. It is believed that this was a targeted incident with no further threat to public safety. Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a break and enter into a residence on Windom Drive in Kitchener. Suspects stole jewelry, alcohol and electronics. The break in is suspected to have occurred sometime over the last three days while the homeowners were away. On April 13, 2015 at approximately 12:10 am, a lone male suspect entered the Mac's convenience store located at 300 Bleams Road in Kitchener, brandishing a knife and requested money from the employee. The suspect left with the money on foot. No one was injured. The suspect was a white male, 6' tall, wearing dark jeans, white sneakers, grey hoodie and a black balaclava. On Saturday April 4, 2015 at approximately 9:50 pm, a student was walking on the UW campus near Beck Hall located at 108 Seagram Drive in Waterloo. He was approached by 2-4 male suspects who assaulted the student and took his bag containing personal items. The subjects fled on foot. The victim was not injured and no weapons were seen. The suspects were all dark skinned males, in their 20's, wearing dark clothing, and were average height and build. The suspects are unknown at this time. On Friday April 3, 2015 at approximately 11:16pm a male was walking on campus at the University of Waterloo. Three males approached the victim brandishing a weapon demanding the victim's money and cell phone. The suspects stole the victim's jacket and cash before fleeing in a waiting dark hatchback car. The first suspect is described as 6 feet tall, 170-180 lbs, baseball hat, dark hoodie, black bomber style vest, and high top shoes, early 20's or late teens with a thin build. The second was a black male approximately 5'7"-5'8" tall, 140-150lbs, no facial hair, 18-20 years old, wearing a hoodie, light blue baggy jeans and beige timberland boots. The third suspect was a black male, 5'9" tall, 150 to 160lbs wearing a long sweater and shoes with white soles and 18-20 years old. On April 1, 2015 at just before 1pm, a male entered a residence on Homuth Avenue, Cambridge, via an unlocked door. Once inside the residence the male was confronted by the occupants. The male suspect grabbed a purse belonging to one of the residents and fled on foot. The male is described as a white, approximately 19 years of age, app 5'11" tall, clean shaven. Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a robbery which occurred near a residence in the city of Kitchener. An adult female was approached by an unknown male, sprayed with an unknown substance and had her purse taken. The male then fled the area. The female did not sustain any serious injuries. The description of the suspect is a male of unknown race, 5’6” with an average build and wearing a blue coat. The incident is not believed to be a random incident and the investigation is ongoing. On March 19, 2015, members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at the address on Mary Avenue, Cambridge. Two adult males, one adult female, and one female youth were arrested upon entry. Police seized quantities of crack cocaine, marihuana, cannabis resin, and prescription pills during the search. All four of the arrested parties face numerous drug-related charges. Waterloo Regional Police are committed to working in partnership with the community to curtail illegal drugs and drug activity.
