Description

West Houston (Westheimer) Tamil School affiliated with Greater Houston Tamil School (HTS) was started in Dec 2013 with 14 students and 2 teachers with the objective of teaching Tamil, an ancient and literature-rich South Asian classical language. Since then, the school has grown to 60 children attending various levels from Palar to level 6. The School currently has 15 dedicated teachers and various volunteer groups. 1. This is an important milestone in the school operation. It was started with around 70 books and is continuously growing to add more books. The parents are already registering with enthusiasm and borrowing the books. About Greater Houston Tamil School (HTS): HTS is a member of American Tamil Academy (ATA) and a non profitable organization. Accordingly, it is following ATA syllabus and its books for Mazhalai to Level 3. For higher levels, however, HTS uses its own books. There are six branches in the Houston area They are Katy,West Katy,Pearland, Woodlands, Sugarland, and West Houston (Westheimer). A total of over 400 students are currently (Academic year 2016-17) enrolled in these six schools. Tamil is taught in eight levels (grades) starting from Palar to Level 6. West Houston Tamil School [Westheimer] mission is to teach Tamil, an ancient and literature-rich South Asian classical language, to individuals in the greater Houston area in a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. In addition, we support and conduct events to enrich and propagate Tamil language and its heritage.West Houstn Tamil School[Westheimer] is a non-profit organization open to all those who wish to learn the Tamil Language.
