The hostel is quietening down and our friends are looking after it this week whilst we have a holiday before the Ryder Cup people arrive for 8 days.....hoping Europe can win and make it a great week!!!
Gardening in the sun today - lovely to feel the warmth again! Have our first guest from Malta! She is loving Scotland & all it has to offer!
Thank you to Stefano for making me a proper Italian coffee for breakfast this morning - we just can't get it right here!!! These are the type of guests we like!
Had a glorious day at the hostel on Sunday - a great day for a thorough spring clean! Thanks to Pauline for all her help - the place is looking good and the garden just stunning in the sunshine with all the daffodils at their best! Thanks to Lindsay and her hen party for leaving the hostel soooo tidy after their weekend with us! And, we throroughly enjoyed your cake sitting in the garden during a break - thanks!
Spring is springing and the garden is starting to come 'alive' again - daffodils are almost out! Lots of lovely people staying with us - a choir last weekend who are regular visitors and now old friends! We have a bunch of guys this weekend doing outdoor activities with Nae Limits - here's hoping the weather stays like this for them - glorious!
The Steading Hostel is now closed to individuals during the week...our first winter weekend group bookings have been family gatherings - a 60th and 75th Birthday - lovely to have all their families together! Our next visitors are mountain-bikers, then we have mountaineers and a group of walkers - love the variety!!!
The hostel is welcoming lots of lovely people from all over the World - they are thrilled with our weather & have all the wrong clothes with them! Scotland, specifically Perthshire is looking awesome. You can walk across The Tay some points, it's so low!
Our lovely Italian visitors left today - we will miss them. Absolutely delightful children! Looking foward to their visit next year! And, how lucky they were with the weather!
Wow, wow and wow! Our much loved and world famous osprey has returned to Loch of The Lowes...'Lady' as she is known is the oldest osprey in europe (lived approx 3x normal life span) and we can't believe she has made it back again - she has already sorted her nest, seen off a young rival and mated with her new (ish) young mate - hopefully more chicks this year. She is a wonder!
I have just returned from the Scottish Independent Hostel AGM held at the Euro Hostel in Glasgow - really worthwhile - we're all ready for the 2014 summer season & look forward to being busy!
The annual tarting-up of the hostel is almost done - all ready for our 2014 guests. We are open for group bookings at weekends until Easter and then we open for the summer season for individuals during the week - very selfishly hoping for a busy summer and GREAT weather in Scotland and Perthshire in particular!
We are now taking bookings for the Ryder Cup - all guests are volunteers so far, should be a fun week and here's hoping the European Team do as well as we'd like them to do in Scotland - the home of golf!
