December Pop in with the Principal will be held Wednesday morning from 8:45-9:30 AM in room 502. Mr. Lyon will discuss school issues and field questions from parents. Western Valley Middle School will be featured on Good Morning Arizona this morning at about 8:30 AM. Mayor Stanton will be visiting and highlighting our outstanding robotics program sponsored by Mr. Antonio Morales. He will be encouraging citizens to use the AZ TAX CREDIT to contribute to these wonderful extra-curricular programs. Tune in and check it out!
Our WVMS PTO is sponsoring a special "Buck a Jean" Day fundraiser tomorrow, Tuesday, November 18th, to help our St. Judes Hospital Team with their walk this coming Saturday. Students may pay $1 to wear appropriate jeans with their uniform top.

PICTURE DAY is coming this week. Tuesday, September 23rd is picture day for Western Valley Middle School. All students will be photographed and parents can pay for pictures when they see the proofs. Students can wear appropriate school dress instead of their classy uniforms. If you are a parent who would like to volunteer to help out or if you have any questions, please contact the main office.

Western Valley Middle is partnering with ASU and hosting the American Dream Academy tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 27, 2014 with a Spanish session at 8:40 am and an evening session from 6:00-8:00 pm. Come find out some great information about how to help you child time travel to their future and then start planning to help them meet their goals and dreams.
Great 8th Grade Strings and Choir concert tonight under the direction of Mr. Bob Diaz. Mr. Lyon even got in the action as he performed a violin duet with another student. Thursday night will be the 6th grade band concerts at 5:30pm and 7:00 pm. Hope to see lots of people there!

Our 8th Grade Awards Assemblies will be held on Thursday morning, May 21st starting at 9:00a.m.. Promotion certificates and report cards will be distributed shortly thereafter for those who have everything turned in and all fees up to date. Please no balloons or noise-maker as we want to keep things safe, dignified, yet fun. Remember to thank a teacher for all of the hard work they have put in this year to make it a great time of learning!
Our Final PTO meeting of the year will be held tomorrow night at 5:30 PM in the library. We will be debriefing our PTO carnival this past weekend and making plans for next year. We hope students and parents can join us.

Congratulations to Mr. Antonio Morales who applied for and received a $5,000 SRP Grant for robotics. This is on top of the $1,600 he has already received this year from other awards. We are proud of our teachers and the extra efforts they put into making a difference for kids!
Tolleson District Honors Band and Choir Concert today. More than 40% of the band students were from Sierra Linda High School or from Tolleson(University High) and were WVMS Graduates! We have some awesome musical talent at our school. State Band Festival is Wednesday and May 8th is the Sierra Linda Final Band Program! Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!
Desiree Saldana (softball) and Cristian Matus (baseball) were honored this evening as Athlete's of the Month for May for Sierra Linda at the Tolleson High School District Board Meeting! Congratulations to our former Wildcats!
Dads - We know you are busy but it is Bring Your Child to School Day tomorrow (Thursday). Come to the library, sign in, and enjoy some breakfast treats. The Glendale Community College Mascot will be here to welcome you and your student after 8:20am! After announcements we invite you to meet with us to discuss how you can continue to be involved in your child's education in powerful ways and then stay and join your child in their classes or head out to work! Come out to the PTO meeting TONIGHT at 5:30 in the WVMS library to find out what you can do to help out with our upcoming Coupon Book fundraiser and fall festival at the end of the month! We need as many parents as possible involved so these are great events for our kids!

Our first PTO meeting will be held this Wednesday Night, August 12th at 5:30 PM in the Middle School library. We welcome all parents and guardians to be involved and part of the PTO all year long. If you are an out-of-district parent, this is one way to show how involved you would like to be with the school and we welcome your presence. Translation will be provided and light refreshments will be served. All parents who attend receive a FREE DRESS DOWN PASS for their student to use this Friday! We hope to see many parents there as we need to elect officers for the year and begin planning events and fundraisers.
If your child needs a medical physical to play sports at any time this year, the school will be offering them for $25 on Wednesday from 4pm-6pm in our gym or on Thursday at the same time but at Santa Maria Middle School. The student/parent sports meeting for Fall Sports will happen next Monday from 3:40-5:00 pm in our WVMS gym.
TONIGHT, there will also be a special presentation from the Pima Prevention Partnership on special classes that will be helping our youth “Make Proud Choices.” This is only for 7th and 8th grade students. Information was passed out at our Meet the Teacher night in July and will also be sent home tomorrow and I have attached the same information to this email. This introductory meeting will be held in the Santa Maria Middle School Gym beginning at 6:00 PM.
