Tallgrass Film Association presents special films at "Strings on Screen: Celebration of the Guitar" this Sunday at the Historical Museum! Join us on Sunday, March 6th at 2pm "The Electric Revolution" and "Decade of the Guitar Geek" presented by Tallgrass Film Association! Included with general museum admission; members always free. Celebrating the electric guitar in film, view the Tallgrass Film Festival award-winning short "Electric Revolution" by Mark Moormann. Filmed in Wichita, "Electric Revolution" documents Gage Brewer's world premier performance of the electric guitar in Wichita, KS in 1932. Then, watch the debut screening of the rough-cut "Decade of the Guitar Geek Fest" with highlights of Deke Dickerson's legendary Los Angeles Guitar Geek Festival. The Historical Museum has received international recognition for its research and exhibits devoted to the electric guitar over the past decade. Learn about Wichita's surprising role in electric guitar history through our specially curated exhibit, The Electric Guitar: Wichita's Instrument featuring rare guitars from notable collections, including what experts have recently agreed "may well be the most historically important guitar ever made . . . the first modern electric guitar." On view through June 5, 2016. Be sure and visit our featured partner, Exploration Place, and the exhibit "Guitar: The Instrument that Rocked the World" on view though May 8, 2016.
