Filmed in Wichita, "Electric Revolution" documents Gage Brewer's world premier performance of the electric guitar in Wichita, KS in 1932. Then, watch the debut screening of the rough-cut "Decade of the Guitar Geek Fest" with highlights of Deke Dickerson's legendary Los Angeles Guitar Geek Festival. The Historical Museum has received international recognition for its research and exhibits devoted to the electric guitar over the past decade. Learn about Wichita's surprising role in electric guitar history through our specially curated exhibit, The Electric Guitar: Wichita's Instrument featuring rare guitars from notable collections, including what experts have recently agreed "may well be the most historically important guitar ever made . . . the first modern electric guitar." KANSAS DAY FESTIVITIES: Join us on Sunday, January 31st for a Kansas Day celebration at the Historical Museum! The festivities begin at 2pm with musical performances by The Prairie Rose Rangers, The Crowson's and The Home Rangers! Beginning at 3pm, families are invited to create Kansas Day crowns and hats, decorated with our favorite symbols of Kansas. This Kansas Day celebration is free and open to the public! CORRECTION: The date of the Blue Moon party at the Wichita Historical Museum is still tentative. It will be either April 22 or April 29.
Great January WHIMS meeting on Tuesday, January 19, at the Wichita Historical Museum. Lots of discussion about the successful Wreath Festival last November......and the Blue Moon committee set Friday, April 29, for the Blue Moon event.
