Welcome! My name is Alyssa Wood-Tozzi and I am a certified Birth Doula (CBI). I currently support clients in the city of Burlington, Ontario, Canada.

Description

I support birthing folks as well as intended parents and partners, in a non-medical role, during all pregnancy outcomes including birth, adoption, abortion, surrogacy and loss. I also provide postpartum support. Support includes a variety of things, dependent on the individual needs of the pregnant person and/or family. It can include helping the pregnant person (and the partner, if applicable) decide what their birth wishes are, what they are comfortable with and what they want to decline, providing information on procedures and tests, writing out a birth plan if desired, discussing how appointments go and sometimes attending appointments together, helping everyone feel comfortable with birth and flushing out any fears and concerns they may have, helping them discover how to be assertive in their wishes with their care provider, providing breastfeeding support, as well as many other things. During birth, I provide continuous support for all involved which includes emotional support, encouragement, non-medical pain management (positioning, massages, counter-pressure, etc), supporting them in the way they wish to birth and helping them overcome any obstacles they may encounter. Above all, I wish to teach informed choice and to help empower people in their birth choices. I believe someone can feel empowered in any setting, provided they are shown respect and are an active part of the decision making process.
