William's Grant Inn in Bristol, Rhode Island, is a beautiful, five-bay, Colonial Federal style home featuring charming guest room decor and seven fireplaces. It was built in 1808 by William Bradford III, grandson of Deputy Governor William Bradford. The younger William was a sea captain and ship owner who went away for long periods. He built the house on land deeded in his wife's name by her father, Nathanial Smith, the largest landowner in the region at the time. The Inn remained in the Bradford family for 150 years. It became a bed and breakfast in 1993, and current owners Warren and Diane Poehler took control in 1998. We recommend booking online to save through advanced payment.
