Description

In 1956, Dwight Woodford decided to buy and sell residential real estate to support his wife and three children in the Akron area. Several years later, after outgrowing the confines of this first home, Dwight and his wife agreed it was time to begin building their home. As friends and family saw and admired the quality of Dwight's work buying, selling and building homes, more residential opportunities came along and Woodford Realty Company was born. Throughout the 1960’s, 1970’s, and 1980’s, the real estate business continued to increase and the company grew into the development of retail, medical and general offices for a growing number of clients. In 1984, Woodford acquired land that was to eventually become his first retail development venture, Chapel Hill Commons in Akron. In this retail development Dwight selected the site and found the tenants to lease the building. Dwight successfully finished developing and leasing the retail center which still stands today. Since then, Woodford Realty Company has developed several retail centers, office buildings and multi-family complexes throughout greater Akron & Canton. The expansion to commercial building construction came in the early 1980’s. Almost 15 years after Woodford constructed his first home, his company built its first commercial building in Tallmadge. Since then, Woodford Realty has constructed numerous apartment complexes, shopping centers, and office buildings throughout greater Akron and Canton. As business grew, David Woodford joined the firm in 1989 and added to the Company's property portfolio. David was instrumental in finding land and bringing together the necessary tenants to develop each project. David’s first project was the retail center called Buchholzer’s Crossing which required an agreement with the local government to extend a road in order for traffic to access the property. Today, Buchholzer’s Crossing remains at the major intersection of Chapel Hill regional retail market of Howe Road and Buchholzer Boulevard. Today, Woodford Realty is involved in all aspects of Real Estate, Commercial and Development projects. The Company currently owns and manages several commercial buildings, and is fully staffed, experienced, and ready to continue to grow in size. The reputation for quality that has grown with the Company over the years has helped Woodford Realty Company weather the ups and downs of the building trades industry.
