Project Summary
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is the authoritative agency within the federal government responsible for a wide variety of emergency preparedness and planning, mitigation and response and recovery activities. When a significant event occurs that meets the criteria for the President of the United States (U.S.) to issue a disaster declaration, FEMA takes the lead in marshalling the necessary resources to address each incident is one of two contractors selected as a FEMA Housing Inspection Services contractor. We are tasked to deploy qualified inspectors to an incident site after notification by FEMA to assess damages to homes and personal property throughout the U.S., its territories and protectorates. Inspections are documented using tablets containing a software program that efficiently and thoroughly describes the nature and extent of the damage. In accordance with the provisions of the Robert T. Stafford Act, the completed inspections enable FEMA to determine the basis for financial grant assistance to disaster survivors for them to use for the repair of their dwellings and personal property loss, rental assistance, if the dwelling is uninhabitable, and direct housing assistance when rental resources are not available. This contract receives extensive visibility from the highest level of Federal, State and local governments and is continually in the public media arena.
