Xseed in Life™ is a nonprofit corporation based in Kansas City. Xseed in Life™’s specific goals and strategies include educating, redefining identity, mentoring, developing social skills, self-empowerment, business training, and networking youth and young adults in the urban community. Societal, institutional, and environmental changes need to be made in the urban communities to truly improve the lack of social mobility in comparison to alternative communities around the nation. Education, race, health, and state of residence are four key channels by which economic status is transmitted from parent to child. Xseed in Life™ strives to remedy the issues in these channels to rebuild the economic status in these areas. Our business center teaches children to young adults the basis of exceeding both in the business world of today and life. Xseed in Life™ seeks an energetic efficient staff of professional individuals working to reduce barriers of communication, education, self-worth, and help organize a purpose for the lives of youth and young adults in the urban communities. Our training program teaches young professionals (ages 9-25) the importance of self-assuredness, purpose, empowerment, grooming, communication, entrepreneurial courses, business skills, leadership, and mentoring/giving back. Xseed in Life™ keeps children and young adults off of the streets, teaches more productive and beneficial ways of expressing their talents, by building rather than destroying. Xseed in Life™ uses the village concept which is more of a “pay it forward” situation rather than a “get rich and move out of the community” mentality, which plagues the urban community. This not only gives them skills needed for life and the business world, but also helps them to develop their own careers and businesses. By training the youth and young adults in these areas, giving them a better understanding of self-purpose, and bringing down the walls of division among the urban community, the four channels by which the economic status is transmitted are unlocked. Networking, combining efforts for business incubators and keeping a higher percentage of income within the community will not only assist in this struggling economy, but will also begin to shorten the distance of inequality in social mobility among the races. Our client life cycle for our service is that participants come and gain training receiving on-the-job training or internships, establish businesses or careers, and come back as mentors to teach our new clients the same lessons. Our service never goes bad or expires. There are many patch job companies and organizations for the inner city, but we need a system that will actually be successful.
