Yoga on York, an exciting, fresh and brand new yoga studio in Launceston will see a grand opening in April. You can expect a full timetable of at least 10 classes per week from well known teachers, workshops, massage and complimentary therapies.

Description

The founders of Yoga on York are Monika Landauf and Sarah Behrmann. Between them they have over 20 years of yoga teaching experience. With their differing styles and approaches to yoga, there's something for everybody, from those wanting fitness and strength to those who are looking for a little stillness in life. For athletes, expectant mothers, kids and those recovering from illness or injury, young and old alike. We hope to bring guest teachers and presenters, exciting weekend programs to Launceston such as Yoga Dance, meditation, yogic physiology, discussion groups and heaps more.

General Info

Monika was born in Sweden to German parents. Leaving home at 18, she traveled for 10 years before arriving in Australia in 1995. Training as a massage therapist in 1996 and working with physiotherapists and athletes, she was inspired to become a personal trainer. This . This led to a passion for yoga for fitness and in 2002 Monika became a Power Yoga instructor. Her business name to date is Levalife. In 2003 she found Tasmania her home and spends her time cycling her way around Launceston, studying horticulture, working for a local doctor's surgery and caring for her fur kids, Igor and Alexander (cats). Sarah attended her first yoga class in 1999 and felt as though she were coming home. In yoga she found a peace and connection with Self that was inspiring, supporting and energising. She started teaching in 2002 and before long was the owner of a local yoga centre. After a few years and expecting her second yoga baby, Sarah handed the centre over to it's next owner and began to focus on her young family and her passion for all things yoga and birth, creating Sacred Birth Yoga (for pregnancy) and later, Sacred Fertility Yoga. In 2012 she completed the 2 year Diploma of Satyananda Yoga Teaching and is excited about sharing the teachings of that tradition. She finds fulfillment in her work as a yoga teacher, doula and marriage celebrant, sharing with others the joyous transitions in life.
